I like those wheels on your car. Nice setup.

Did I ever show my rear sidemarker lamp covers from david-michael.com?

I like those wheels Rich. Are they Steeda? What size tires are you running?

Thanks, yes they are Steeda Ultra Lights silver 18x10, the tires are Nitto INVO 275/40ZR18 on all 4 corners. It rides great now with the new tires and suspension.

Thanks! I was very happy with the deal I found here http://www.blueovalindustries.com/pr...p?pid=99013806
They are being discontinued from what I understand. My first choice was the Steeda's you have, but for the price I went with the GT500's. I got tires at Discount Tire Direct and the new TPMS at American Muscle (with the GT/CS Registry discount). I installed the TPMS myself, and had them mounted and balanced locally. Total for everything was $1324, including new pony center caps from Blue Oval Industries. The wheels came with SVT centers.

frank s 4/9/10 12:24 PM

Those wheels - and sometimes with no-miles tires - are still available from time to time. An eBaY search on "GT500 wheels" shows several sets for around a thousand dollars including shipping. I was lucky (and earned back the cost of Team Shelby membership several times over) in getting a pristine set from Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas. They were takeoffs from the SuperSnake program, and with the membership discount came to my front door for $209 each wheel/tire set. I replaced the 255-45 front tires with 285-40s from Tire Rack, about $200 each including shipping and mount/balance. Grand total of $836 + $400 for wheels and fat Eagle GT Supercar tires.

I'm very happy, although not as happy as I'd have been with those Steeda Lightweight wheels at the same price, I think. But the same price wasn't going to happen, and I wonder how much the 5-pounds-per-wheel would actually affect performance.

Any road, they are all looking good, and are something to be proud of.

goldhillstang 4/9/10 02:32 PM

^^ I looked at those, but I wanted the black insert version. Then I still would have wanted the pony center caps...Like you say, they all look good. Do you have any issues with rubbing on the fronts? I was thinking of the 285's for the front but went with the 255's.

frank s 4/9/10 02:55 PM

Not a single rub. I acted on advice from another who had done the same thing, and he was correct.

I wanted to ask 2005GTDeluxe if he had any interferences with the ten-inch rims on the front.

OK so no rubbing, good to know for the future. Is the car those wheels are on lowered? If so, how much? (sorry, shoulda asked all that before) I was also wondering about the ten inch Steeda's.

I can't remember where but I read that I wasn't supposed to put the 18x10 on the fronts. I originally ordered 18x9.5 front and 18x10 back , but Steeda Steve called and they were out of stock on the 18x9.5. Steeda said that I should go with the 18x10 on all four corners and that is how the Roush comes. I lowered the car 1" and put them on and no problems at all.

The fellow who told me it was all right is a track runner who has FRPP springs; I'm not certain which, but they didn't influence the rubbing. Mine is not lowered. Much as I'd like to do it for the appearance improvement, but it's a ways down on the list, at present.

Thanks. I do wonder exactly where the "no-ten-inchers" wisdom came from. There are so many suspension, offset, and backspacing variations that the "no" admonition is a safe one, but may not apply in some cases.

Took the car out for a drive in the W. Ga. countryside and came upon this cool old store. Made for a nice photo op!!!

Don't know how old it is, but a plaque on the front said it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located at a 4-way stop about 15 miles from anywhere.
