2011 Mustang GT/CS

Today my dealer sent me a text message to let me know they just had a new 2011 GT/CS come in that they ordered after they saw my 2007 3 months ago when my wife bought her new 2010 convertible. It just had come off the truck. They let me take it for a test drive, and I put the first 20 miles on it! Here are a few pictures that I took!

A 3.15 axle ratio, and an automatic? Is this a new gear combo with the auto tranny? I don't recall a ration lower than the 3.31.

I love everything but the grille. I just don't see how it goes with anything else on the car. But I like the more refined look. They each are great in their own ways. I wouldn't kick either car out of bed.

I'm with you on the grille. Its just hideous. I think a black billet grille would have worked out so much better, especially since CS accents are black on the exterior.

The Grill looks like a Cylons' head IMO.

Don't know what it is, but just don't like the looks of the new model. The rear end, the front end...etc.

Seems to me when it was announced it was not as attractive as the 2005-2009 models, and probably never will be, but - like the 914 "Porsche", I think I'm getting used to it, and it's no longer as repulsive as it was.

If the only criterion for desirability were attractiveness, it's still second place in the modern-Mustang sweepstakes, in my eyes; however, as a functioning vehicle it is definitely an improvement in several areas, where Ford has looked at the aftermarket and incorporated numerous features that enthusiasts commonly added. Makes the ordering process a little more complex, but easier in a way.

Good moves by Ford, but a little too late for me: I'm too deep into the 2008 and 2009 S197s to move over to a new one, now. Which is not necessarily a bad thing for me, nor a good thing for Ford.

As we say over here in Borderlandia, "Así es la vida"; such is life.

I am glad i am not the only one who thinks the 11's are just to rounded and refined. I have an 07' GT/CS in vista blue and i just think they are meaner looking. More muscle in the looks for sure even though there is more horsepower in the 11's. I hate what they did with the taillights and i love my hood scoop the way they were, with that being said i do like the interior upgrades and changes for the most part, just not the body!

Hey John,

What kind of strut tower brace do you have on there? I love the look. Did it just bolt on w/o any problems, or did you need to clearance the hood? Thanks so much!

Sorry Den i was off the last few days. Anyway i purchase it from A+A auto stores but it is also online being a ford product. It is one of the only ones that i found that clear the cover and also looked nice. I got it for $175.00 and it bolts on in 5 minutes to the 4 inner screws on the strut tower. Just be sure you tighten the nuts to exactly 25ft/lbs which is what they were already at using a torque wrench of course.

If i can refind the website i found the pcture on i will let you know.

Today I took a 2011 GT/CS for a test drive. All I can say is wow this a completely different animal. The clutch is soooo light it makes my 2007 GT/CS seem like it has a Mustang Cobra clutch. My '07 clutch is so much stiffer than 2011. The car is real quiet and the power is very smooth, it was wierd having a 6 speed since I had no idea when to shift into 6th. The seats have alot more side support than the '07 which was nice. Overall I say it was a fun car to drive and I wish I had more time to drive it around town.
