2 things, first if they wanted to do another tribute car why not a Boss or a Mach tribute, I wasnt even excited about the 08 and 09 GTCS but at least they looked good, that brings up the second thing, I did not think they could screw the *** end up worse than the stock but I think they figured out how to do that. It looks like they had some extra plastic and glued it on.

The mustang has always been about customization and offering options for it's buyers. Traditionally the original California Special was an appearance package based on the Shelby cars. It was another option for buyers to add to the laundry list of options they could choose from.
This car is no different, just as the 05-09 GT/CS was no different. It is/was another option in the long list of options available to us from the factory.
So Yes, in that regard it is what the GT/CS and the mustang stands for. The 2011 may not be based off a Shelby (but of course that could be false since we don't know everything), but it's still representative of the spirit of the car.
Besides it's subjective. the GT/CS is nothing more than an appearance package. Some will like that package, some won't.

I like 'em all. Some to a greater degree than others. Lucky 2010+ drivers don't have to look at the rear end when they are doing what they're supposed to be doing in any Mustang - Precision Driving. Of course that semi-unattractive back end is even more of a motive to get in front of them!
If I didn't already have (almost) enough cars, I'd be tempted. Of course current owners can feel superior to the new-car buyers: we were smart first!

Next Generation GT/CS
The 2011 GT/CS. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! A very nice variant of the newer body shape here. This version just does not jump out and say "Oh Wow" to us! But it is also now going to become a part of this great Mustang family.
So it shall likely be loved by many of the new younger Mustang buyers out there! And I am sure that is exactly where the FoMoCo was smartly aiming at! Remember it is the next generation buyer that keeps it all alive for everyone folks!
Just so very glad that we already have our own (first generation S-197) 2007 GT/CS now stored out in the shop, awaiting the annual call of spring! After three years of great happiness, it truely has become a part of this family!
Just hoping that our one year old grandson loves this GT/CS someday too? And in the future if he ever wants to go faster, he could just add an induction system to take it up to the next level. "Mustangs". It's all good (Every Year) Gang!

P.S. All though must say that new GT/CS's interior does look pretty nice and rich in there!! Got to be flexible! "RC"

Excellent way of looking at this. You must either be a writer or a politician(no insult intended). We're supposed to be 'Stang lovers. I don't like reading the negative comments about the new CS. I will always love the S197 body, but that new CS is kinda growing on me. That big wing spoiler on the rear seems to liven up my otherwise least favorite part of the new body. We all have to learn to go with the flow and just be happy Ford is still building these fabulous Mustangs!

Your own point is well said also friend!! Just know that we will most likely with time grow to also enjoy the new 2011 GT/CS! But sometimes older things can be just as wonderful as newer things when love is involved in those equations along life's path. CalStang

The 11' is nice, and the motor is got a little more grunt but I have to say I prefer the cleaner look of the 07-10's. The 11' just has to much plastic crap on it.

We went to the NAIAS this morning. I own a GT not a GT/CS and I know it's most likely a decal but I liked the small GT/CS sticker on the dash.
I thought both of the new 19" wheels looked good also. We have an alloy 07, I am thinking both wheels would look nice with that color.

Approved here.
I'm still not crazy about the tail end of the car. However given the body style of the '11, the '11 GT/CS has everything I would have wanted to add to the standard GT. I like the car, seems well done to me. Price may be an issue, that we'll have to see.
I still like my '09 GT/CS best. I'll give props to the '11 though, still well done.
