2005 - 2007 GT - differences/refinements
After putting a whopping 300 miles on my new '07 GT/CS I thought I'd start a thread comparing/contrasting the differences between my '05 GT Preimum and the '07 GT/CS Preimum.
1. Additional options that were not available in '05: heated seats and 6-way power passenger seat are both very nice. The tire pressure monitoring system integrated with the message center and the 18" polished wheels - first stock Ford wheel I like enough to keep.
2. Differences: the car sounds quieter than the '05 - yet when applying Dynamat this weekend I noticed quite a bit less of the sound deadening materials used on the '07, the engine (stock vs stock) seems to have a bit more mid-to-upper range power, the starter motor sounds completely different, stock exhaust sounds a bit quieter than the '05, the clutch feels different - more solid somehow....
3. Refinements: the upper strut bearing bushings don't make popping noises with low speed turns (TSB out for this), the seat thigh pad coverings no longer keep coming "untucked" (TSB out for this as well), the Shaker 500 works like it should - no bugs, CD's skipping, noisy operation, FM radio reception is stronger - and I really like the indexed volume **** (still need the On/Off/Vol know backlight so you can see it at night), the A/C dash vents are more solid and the chrome ring doesn't rattle, the passenger side SRS panel fits better/seams are less noticable.....
Feel free to add your observations/opinions......

Yup it does about 400 I took mine on a 2400 trip and when back it was louder. makes sense as it most likely blows out the baffles some what, and keep in mind Loud may sound cool and all but when you get on it and your not looking they got you pegged, it attracts attention. just my 4.5 cent opinion.

Had mine dynoed at stock, 265 hp and 270 torque.
if you check the dyno thread, there are guys that are just pulling that with CAI, exhaust up grades and tunes.
also the 07 is built on the Cobra frame, Ford was not going to change back and forth between the Cobras and GT's. Not cost effective.

Are you sure about that, first I've heard anyone mention it. When I heard about the GT/CS I briefly considered selling my 05 GT then decided against it.
The car is just cosmetic changes and there is really nothing wrong with that. I still can't believe that Ford puts a black tape stripe on the black and blue mustangs. They made the same mistake on the 03 & 04 Mach 1's. You have to look hard to see it, what a shame.....
Not knocking these cars by any means. There should have also been a horse power gain and the older style shelby tail lights similar to the concept car added with a duck tail type spoiler.
Just my thoughts............

Doug is referring to the upgraded body for all 07 Mustangs, not just the GTCS. Reference goes back to the upgraded body for the Shelby GT500; FoMoCo elected to upgrade the entire Mustang production for 2007. An example would be the changes to the Front Strut Tower Braces.

Sonic - strictly butt-o-meter here....it just seems to have a bit more "lunge" at the upper end of the RPM's....I find myself not shifting quite as soon as I would have on my '05 - it that makes any sense
Has anyone ran an '07 on the dyno yet....oops - just read Doug's post above and it does sound about the same as stock '05's - IIRC '05's with the CAI/Tune were +15 to +30 hp gains - my '05 responded very well to the JLT II CAI/Tune.
