What did you pay for your '08 GT500

I imagine this post has come up several times in the past, but hey I'm new so...
What did you pay for your '08 GT500. I'm kicking around the idea of getting one. I've
got two dealers new home that have a couple for sale. I just can't see myself paying
retail for a car when prices on cars have dropped because the economy.

Do you consider paying retail for a GT500 a good deal. Do these cars traditionally sell
for MSRP plus?

Thanks for your reply

they have been selling for over MSRP, but you should be able to find one for MSRP, maybe lower now. Do some looking around your area, and you should be able to get a good handle on it, some of the 500 owners should chime in.

CBR's FTW!

My local dealer has one I'm interested in. I clicked on the "get the internet price" link and the reply I got today was retail. It's hard to pay retail for a car now. New Vettes are $7,000 off retail........

Asking a GT500 owner how much they paid is kinda a touchy subject, as most paid over sticker. It's kinda like asking someone how much they make a year. However, I paid sticker for mine, when dealers were still asking too much for them. If you're interested in a GT500 I suggest you do some serious research as I've heard of some people getting as much as $3000 off sticker. I know there are a few low mileage one's out there for greatly reduced prices. I know a guy right now trying to sell his for $39k with I think 300 miles on it and he has a TVS blower to go with it that is new in the box. He also has some other goodies to go with it. Don't jump on the first deal you come across as there are some really good deals out there right now, you just have to do some leg work.

I bought mine in Aug 2007 for sticker. At that time it was a great deal. very few were at sticker then. I would think good deals would be findable with the current situation.

Even at sticker, these cars are good deals. Good luck. Hope you find the right deal.

Brad, you thinkin' about buying it?

We've been sold out of new '08 GT500's for awhile, but our last couple new '08's went for MSRP. Already sold all three of our '09 GT500's, as well. '09 #1 went for MSRP very quickly and easily. '09 #2 went a few days ago for $2K below MSRP after sitting unsold for a couple months (unpopular color combo). '09 #3 went a few days ago, as well, but for MSRP (it was only here for a couple weeks and a popular color combo). The market in our area is flooded with too many Ford dealers (Seattle-Tacoma metro area), but most of those dealers still want over sticker making MSRP a great deal by comparison. I'm seeing GT500 prices settling down nationwide, and on average, to just below MSRP lately.

I'm in Canada and I bought a new 08 GT500 for X plan pricing plus there was an additional $7500 rebate. In total I saved 12k off of retail.

12k off? Wow, that's a good deal. Sounds like it's not common to get that type of a bargin. From what I'm hearing from everyone is if I get $1,000 off or more I should pull the trigger? Seems like the economy is going to get a little worse first part of this upcoming year. Hopefully this will bring the price down a little. The new '10 Shelby will be shown 1/11/09? I think I will hold off a little bit longer and see what happens to the price after the auto show.

I paid MSRP last August for my 08, which was a great deal at the time. Our local dealer has 2 09's and they will go below MSRP....makes me want to buy another one

If you're looking for the best deal there are TONS of used GT500s for 38k and below all the way down to 33k.

I probably wouldn't buy a "high-mileage" car, but to get an '07 with around 1000 miles on the clock for 35k is pretty decent.

Also, remember if you buy from a dealer you will pay tax, tag, etc. etc. So your "out the door" price is going to climb. And if you haven't bought a lot of cars they'll try all the tricks to get you to pay even more before you leave... gap insurance... advertising fees, etc. etc.

But up to you... I'm waiting for the right one to come along for the right price, and since '07s are going for 38-35k I imagine after the economy dumps even further and the 2010s are out you'll be able to grab an '07 for even less, and an '08 for around the same prices around summertime.

I found a local dealer who has a black with red stripe package '09 for $500 under MSRP. It has the cheaper stereo, Shaker 500, no HID, but has the premium interior upgrade. Which puts it at 46K even. I think they will come down another 500 if I asked ? Maybe more. They told me it's a rare color combination and normally sells for > retail. I don't know...so many options. Camaro SS, '10 GT500, economy is in bad shape, girlfriend won't give up her garage space......

Craigslist has one in Independence for 46279 (2008 with 5 miles) and another in Warrensburg for 47900 (2007, 660 miles). Just for market comparison sake....

I paid sticker in July, its not loaded I got exactly what I wanted that is a big part of it get what you want don't settle for anything out there. I got mine out of state the local dealer wanted to play games and 15k in ADM. I think below sticker is a good deal now how much I think depends on where you are.

Good hunting
