Spitting into the wind

I haven't have contact with this guy for a couple of weeks. I abandoned the effort on trying to make a deal when I came to the conclusion it was fruitless. I was polite, professional, and never attepted to contest his lack of knowledge or the BS he was handing out.

Here is another reason why many car salesmen are where they are:

Corgratulations! The new GT 500 owner will certainly be happy and possibly never buy another Ford product outside of performance models. Enjoy your view from the top... while it lasts.

George

I have a lot of patience. I'll be giving this clown a call at the appropriate time.

Something else which I learned from one of the internet managers I spoke to.

Apparently there is a Ford Dealer forum limited to sales managers, owners, area managers, and probably few others where topics such as the state of the market and car enthusiasts forums are discussed, as well plans and strategies.

It has been too much of a coincidence some of the similar phrases and examples I've heard from different people of different geographical area. That's how the collusion has been maintained. The one item which made it click was the persistance on a few I've spoken to wishing to know which dealers were selling or willing to sell GT500s for lower ADMs.

I guess they would spank them.

FYI, I just recieved this e-mail from a salesman in Atmore Alabama concerning this "price reduction" on this SHELBY GT500.....Im currently searching for a RED/WHITE.....but, there could possibly be a MSRP deal lurking here for anyone interested in a WHITE/BLUE:

Mr. Carroll,

Don't know if you remember but we e-mailed each other last month concerning a 2007 White hardtop Shelby GT500 with blue racing stripes. At the time we were offering this car at a price of $58,765. We then reduced it to $55,765. My owner has now told me to reduce the car further and sell it. I don't know if you are still in the market. If you are, send me an e-mail and lets make a deal on this car. I have reduced it to $51,765 on Autotrader.

Sincerely,
Chris Walker

My phone number is 251-368-2135 or toll free 877-993-6739. My direct line is 251-368-0629. The dealership address is 1828 south main street Atmore, Alabama 36502. I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Chris Walker

Maybe this falls under a different set of laws because they work for the same company? E.G., it would not be illegal for Wal-Mart to get their managers together to dicuss pricing, but it would be for Wal-Mart and K-Mart mangers to meet to discuss pricing.

The thing is that they don't work for the same company. Each dealer is a separate, independently owned business that sells a ford product. So in reality it would be like wal-mart and target discussing pricing about a common product like a sony tv

Hello Nicole:

I spoke to you a few days back. The lasting impression I have is you were not too interested in my business, unless I misunderstood.

I do thank you for taking the time to send this message specially since it probably took longer to compose than the time spent on our conversation.

Keep that pride up!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's another!!!

Hello Mr. Axx Xxxx,

I have, and short of being a Ford engineer I am fluent and informed on Ford products. I've purchased 23 Ford products since 1972, 14 being Mustang GTs, special editions Mustangs, and SVT products. I've also provided different Ford dealers with dozens of sales referrals for which I've declined any compensation for several reasons: I like Ford products, I mistakenly thought I was building and expanding on relationships, and I haven't had the need to accept a portion of commissions which salesmen needed more than I did.

I have a 2007 GT500, purchased in November 2006 for $7,500 over MSRP which I will give to my son when I find one for myself but if you are willing to purchase it for $66,000, he would have to wait a while longer.

I offer my congratulations in advance if your car is sells at the asking price. If it does not and you reach the conclusion it would be to our mutual interests to discuss a possible deal, then by all means do so.

Best of luck.

George

Well, so much for patronizing.

The one factor which has been a constant in my dealings so far has been them feeding false information as facts and assuming the interested parties are a bunch of dummies, which brings up an important and significant point. Why are the intellectuals doing the selling and the dummies have the cash?

Beats the hell out of me!

Perhaps you should consider writing a book, George >> How To Buy A Ford Shelby GT500 For Dummes.

"Chapter One: Surviving The Dealership High Colonic"
"Chapter Two: Using Wit And Sagacity To Baffle Stealership Peons"
"Chapter Three: George's Proven Techniques For Laying The Smackdown On An A$$clown"

You would be doing all us dummies a very great service.

I strongly disagree. I would prefer:
How To Rub An Idiot's Nose In His Own Sheet...

The saddest part is, these tactics have undoubtedly worked on others. A fool and his money are easily parted!
