First Pics !!!!!!! http://www.detnews.com/autoshowguide/ford.htm
Mustang: The 2007 Shelby GT500 coupe and convertible will begin arriving in Ford showrooms this summer. Prices are expected to start at under $40,000. Both versions of the GT500 will be marketed as part of Ford's SVT performance portfolioand here's why: Under the hood is a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 churning out more than 450 horses and lashed to a six-speed manual gearbox. The GT500 convertible will get a power folding top made of premium fabric. And it eschews the fat nose-to-tail racing stripes that adorned the coupe, in favor of a more subtle stripe job on the rocker panels. Inside, the dash and door panels are rendered in black leather, with seats trimmed in red. Otherwise, the ragtop shares most sheet metal and hardware with the hardtop, including the solid rear axle that was introduced on the 2005 Mustang. The standard Mustang V-6 offers a new Pony Package that includes sport suspension, larger wheels and tires, ABS, traction control and a custom grille with foglamps.

Just got off the phone with my ford dealership.. he is getting in 2 or possably 3 shelby convertibles... he said I can be # 2 that #1 is sold for $60,000 cash no questions asked. I asked what #2 or # 3 would sell for and he said he has to wait till Mon morn to find out if he is getting in 2 or 3 convertibles. If he gets 2 than the same price. If he gets 3 then maybe a little less. Undecided if I should go that high or if I should get the Roush stage 1 or 2 convert. or a saleen. :bang:

Don't go that high. This has been discussed over and over. Wait until tomorrow. Production figures should be out. There should be enough to go around. PAying anything over sticker is a mistake. Prices will normalize. I should just make this my sig.

Hmmm, black gauge faces, yet another content deletion from the light background gauges of the concept and Cobras past....
I hope somebody notices the GT500 as they rush past it on their way to the Challenger and Camaro concept cars. Rather underwhelming.
But it does sounds like they're hedging on the price ("...under $40K"), so SVT does seems like they are a bit nervous about their new competition and not so smug or condescending anymore. It better be well under $40K and something more in line with the 2003-4 Cobra, which had even more content (IRS) if the smaller 4.6 vs. 5.4 motor (both of near identical design and complexity though other than stroke and deck heights). If the price does near $40K, I think they will be placing themselves in a terribley vulnerable and untenable competitive position against the Camaro and Challenger. The Stang is not the only game in town now, with these potentially strong competitors, and Ford/SVT needs to rejigger their thinking to accomodate that new reality.

Shelby on rear. Black face gauges. Red/Black seats. Dash does not look leather. Rear tires are FAT. stripes cover bumps in hood.
ME WANT.

I look forward to hopefully both of us getting them before the 30th MCA meet in Birmingham.

Only thing i'm worried about is allocation. I dropped a deposit last April and i've been told (yesterday) that they may only get "one" Shelby coupe. How that other guy's dealer is promising 2 or 3 'verts is beyond me. I'm just gonna have to suck it up and wait it out and see how many cars this big dealership actually gets.
I'm also gonna check out my local Mopar dealerm (in spite) because my heart is breaking over this.

I wonder if there will be other leather interior trim colors besides red. when the 2005 first came out there were pics with blue interior. Any word???

I hope they come with a blue or gray insert color as well. I don't want the red but I doubt they will offer more than one at this time. Perhaps the 2008 version would have a different color insert.
That said I hope they will give us the option.

Exactly, I don't see what the big deal would be. The seats are contracted out anyway so instead of only red accents have a few more colors. I never thought about grey, but that would look good, nothing too extreme. The red is too "in your face" for me.

The blue seats were a photo chop by Motortrend.
As they say, don't belive everything you see.
Overall the GT-500 looks good, strong points are the front facia and duck tail. But I don't like the black rocker panels, black rear difuser and black mirrors. Kind of looks cheap to me. It would have looked a lot slicker if the rocker panels, difuser, mirrors and maybe even the front air dam were all painted body color.
