Dude, I was there! That was so cool. It was at Victor Ford in Wauconda, Illinois last Sunday, July 16th. They went up & down Rt. 12 a few times. They are both awesome cars. Here's a pic.

 

how close was it? its hard to tell in the vids? but in the first one it looks darn close and in the second one it looks like the shelby was beat by about 4-5 cars. which of those races is a more accurate dipiction of how it went down.

I guess either way for the Shelby to cost less then 1/3 as much and wiegh quite a bit more I would say that is pretty impressive, must of been a blast to watch.

 

Makes me want a GT500 bad now!! LOL!! Imagine what that car would do with a slightly smaller pulley and a BAMAchips tune..

It was close. Not real close but close. The GT definitely had the Shelby beat but it didn't seem like they were going at it full on. I belive they were dealer stock and for sale so they probably didn't want to beat on them too bad.

 

Cool vids!! Do you guys think the Ford GT is only 550hp? The car dynos almost that much at the rear wheels. It wouldn't even be close if they were going all out, especially with the weight difference.

 

We have two in Victoria or close proximity, and they are friends, one is blue /white stripe aqnd the other white/blue stripe. I'd like to see them both go for it! and may the best skills win !

 

Hey John, the engine itself is well over 550 hp. My guess, after hearing all the dyno tests, and numbers to the rear wheels, I say that the flywheel hp is over 600, maybe even 625. I've driven one, and it is obscenely fast, lol!
