Shelby GT500 2008 Convertible
Hello, I am the owner of a 2008 Shelby GT500 Convertible Mustang and unfortunately the vehicle is in storage because there is an important broken part, the ECM / ECU computer and it is discontinued at Ford. For 3 months I have been trying by all means to find a new part. I sent it to Carbine and they were unable to make the repair. I am looking to the forums for help with my problem. I have exhausted all the resources on the net but everyone who displays the product is never available.
The part number is: 8R3A-12A650-SB or the one from 2009 which is 9R3A-12A650-PB.
The vehicle's VIN is: 1ZVHT89SX85161478
Thank you.
Jean-Yves

Howdy! Welcome to the forums!
I don't know where you are, so I don't know how convenient it is to do so, but have you gone to the dealership and had them look up all the part numbers that are compatible? Because I went diving in Lakeland Ford's Parts pages, and found these part numbers that are all compatible with your car, supposedly:
The earlier '07-08 PCM:
7R3Z12A650AFFRM
Supersession(s): 7R3Z-12A650-AFF; 7R3Z-12A650-AFFRM; 7R3Z12A650AFF; 7U7Z-12A650-FBA; 7U7Z12A650FBA
And the later '08-10 PCM:
9R3Z12A650PBRM
Supersession(s): 8R3Z-12A650-SB; 8R3Z12A650SB; 9R3Z-12A650-PB; 9R3Z-12A650-PBRM; 9R3Z12A650PB
So that should help in your search, maybe? A bit more numbers to go looking for? I do know that multiple PCMs can be used and flashed to work with these cars, even the Shelbys, but it need to be done with the right kind of scan tool that does it. It won't be plug and play directly. You're probably looking at a dealership to fix at the end of it.
In case it matters, here's the page where I found those, using your VIN to get there:
https://parts.lakelandford.com/a/For...M/JC05182.html
Unless there's some reason specific to the '07-08 vs the '08-10 setup, it looks like you have a few more computers to look into. But I'm not that kind of Ford expert on the PCMs. I love that they keep changing them. I don't suppose you maybe also talked to the Service Manager, or maybe someone at Ford corporate about the problem, and if you've not, perhaps bring up these extra PCMs as possibilities. If the answer is 'yeah, should work', then you've got more options and hopefully can find one...
... but then I found one for ya, anyway, maybe:

Part number 9R3Z-12A650-PB. Wasn't in the description. Used search term "GT500 PCM" and it showed up, had to see the picture. I'd verify it was what he says it is, of course, but hey. 25K mile computer ready to go? Get it while you can, right?
I hope that helps and it all works out! Good luck!

Yeah, I was kinda figurin' on that, but I'm sure that PCM can 'swim over' from wherever it is now.
The fun part will be the programming maybe. Wonderin' how many places can do that elsewhere...
