+1

Dad's72Mach, I finally met Amy last summer at the Tasca Ford show in Cranston RI. Very nice lady and she supports all the GT500 owners. What impressed me the most is her willingness to address are questions and concerns on a forum. I know that she is a busy person but she is always willing to help out a fellow Shelby owner. As Five Oh stated, Team Shelby.com is a great site for GT500 info.

Amy B is a wonderful human being. TeamShelby.com is a wonderful website. SAI, in general, is pretty cool with a rich history. But, and a big but at that, they did completely do a 180 in regards to their stance on whether to include the 07+ GT500's as one of their own. As 1Bullitt said, your first instinct is usually the best.

Credibility is based on the substance of the individual posts not anybody's profile. The chances of you offsetting the context and reality of my posts by relying on a profile are slim to none. Even if the correct birth date were to be posted you would have nowhere to go.

I deal with facts and refrain from the practice of exaggerating or inflating my level of knowledge on any subject. It might be amusing but not very wise. Ask Amy if it worked for her.

As to the inaccuracy of my birth date, there are members who choose to post personal information about themselves on different boards which when gathered is enough to compile an FBI file on themselves. I don't. Again, amusing but not very wise.

IMO, I don't thing SAI. had the man power to build almost 10,000 cars in 2007,or even in2008,that extra shipping would of made the car more $$$. Plus all the other issue parts supplie,UAW,and other. I'am sure it was easier for Shelby to go their than everyone go to SAI. A lot of this comes down to dollars spent. Those bean counters.

Again...the posts get testy......Hmmm....

So sorry Mr. Bullitt Interceptor that Roush was spelled incorectly in my original post..just a typo....
I posted the original question to get a consensus from the folks out there..I got it.

One thing I will comment on here is that I have and do share posts with other car groups. Shelby Cobra groups, Shelby Mustang groups, Mustang K car groups, Corvette groups and others over the years..

This is the first time I have seen this kind of random put downs and attacks on fellow posters because they spell a name wrong or have an opinion that differs from another's....such silliness and such venom...

I will be interested in reading more posts from the same people that are so hi minded and above the rest of us that are so not worthy of participating...

In the end, the good folks and the few will drift away, the left overs will participate and the posts will dry up and that will be that...

A word to the wise..lighten up and be cordial to one another. Civility rules! You figure that out as time passes and you see how negative moments hurt the innocent..

No one needs my lecturing so forego the nasty's and we'll all benefit,,,

Jeesh, 8 posts from this guy and we're getting lectured.

With the way you post, you can't blame anyone from misinterpreting.

I don't know why but after going through this thread and trying to figure what went wrong, and whether I was to blame, this made me laugh out loud!
Thanks for such a reasoned and balanced insight on the matter.

I only read the 1st page of replies but it's all the same crap.

Bottom line is, the car is recognized as a Shelby. It's in the registry....what more do you want? People are Super Snaking them and doing the 40th anniversary package to them.

As for my car, i sent my airbag cover all the way to Vegas to have Carroll sign it. So there, it was "modified" at his shop. If that's not good enough, i'm going to send him my tires so he can replace the air in them with the air in his shop! Yeah, that outta do it!

....don't worry about what your friend says. It's not his car, it's yours to enjoy.

I don't own one but I've driven 2 of them..thank you 1 BUllits bank

People saying they've met Amy B blah blah as if her word lends any credibility to the subject ..well it means nothing.. I also personally saw the one of the prototypes at ford's plant and one of the head buys there (I forget his name) said he was responsible for the rear tire choice. Is he right? is she right? is shelby?
Answer is..who gives a crap. If you bought the car for some mystical value you think it has because of the name on it ( wont say it because I'll probably get sued) then you probably bought the wrong car. I could be wrong but who knows for sure. Barett Jackson can't be used as a real world gage for anything so it doesn't count.
If you Bought the cars as a car for driving and enjoying then the name should mean nothing to you or at least be secondary on the list.

I've said it before that if i could afford one it would be within 10 mins of it's life in my hands be stripped of every logo and name plate baring the ****** name and remarked as just an SVT Cobra.

Evidence suggests the car was named that because of marketing. It's all down to $$$$. If it costs too much or whatever the end result is if ford isn't making money on it it will not get done. Hence the SLA on the car. So they saw that the name and the car could benefit both ford and "him" and a deal was struck to make both parties some serious coin on the car. The PR his name brings was enough of an investment for ford.

IN the end the car is what it is...some think it's a ****** GT500 and other think it's an SVT GT500
as rarecat said it's neither and it's both..but it depends on your point of view what side of that line you fall on.

*My lawyers have advised me to remove "that guys" name to avoid litigation. His laywers make more than mine so I have headed thier advice

I don't follow you here. I bought the car for its performance. The top performance car that Ford makes right now is the Shelby. The top car in '65-'68 was the Shelby. To me the name (of the car) does mean performance.

If you bought a '60s Shelby, would you strip the name and Shelby emblems off the car?

Everyone's hate for Carroll Shelby should have no bearing on the car itself. Ford named it Shelby. It is a Shelby, regardless of Carroll's involvement or business practices.

Like I said previously, would you strip the BOSS name off because Shinoda did not design it?

Ford named it Shelby to commemorate the old Shelbies and sell some cars. Just like they are going to name a future BOSS, ....well "BOSS". Shelby's minimal involvement was just enough to make it "authentic." We all know it is an SVT car. They left the SVT name and badges on it. Why remove the name of the car?

I guess I just don't follow the logic of trying to change the name of a car because you don't like a guy or because he did not have much to with the design of it or because you are upset with Ford for not giving SVT enough credit (even though they did).

Kevin that's essentially what i was saying the name should be irrelevant. If the car was SVT and not him they you would have still bought it.

Me removing the name is just my way of giving credit where i think it belongs. And sticking it to the bean counters

As for the old ones..I wouldn't buy one..i think they look like crap with the exception of the 69-70's. But I'd still never buy one.

it's a personal thing for me that is irrelevant of what everyone else thinks of him or his cars

AS for the Boss..no I wouldn't because the guys name isn't Larry Boss..it's larry shinoda so if the car was called the 2010 Shinoda mustang..yes I would take it off because that is just a tragic name for a car.

For me the name doesn't mean performance it means "money grab". The name back then to me doesn't mean performance it means "interesting car".

I do find it a tad interesting that you say the name means performance but you don't have his name in your sig but I'm just being silly and poking fun at this point so don't take that as a mean spirited jab..just having a laugh.

And remember one thing..this is all my opinion. Some of it is based on facts..some is based on personal feelings. None of it matters to anyone but me though.

Now heres a slight question for you..hypotheticaly if the car (Gt500) was called an SVT Cobra but you could have at no expense to you the car with shelbys name on it and his blessing would you get the name option or just leave it as SVT?
I can't answer this one objectively myself because of my dislike of him but I'm assuming you are more even keiled than me.

I still don't get where this idea of CS's minimal involvement keeps coming from. I know those of you who espouse inside knowlege and having changed Amy's diapers and taught her how to drive, blah, blah, blah(and though I quote you I don't mean you crazyhorse) keep saying this. But on the TS member forum(I know, I know, a big GT500 circle jerk, blah, blah blah) the question of his involvement was asked and Mr Shelby answered directly "at all stages of design and development."
I'm sure those same individuals will say this is a lie but if given the benefit of the doubt how much more would he have to contribute for the car to deserve to carry his name?

And just what would you expect him to say???

I just wrote a long explination but erased it because i'm not in the mood to debate this anymore.

Enjoy your car.
