Prices?? the huge mark up getting smaller?

Is it me or does look like the Mark up on the Shelbys is finally going down??

Looking at Ebay the most I have seen for a coupe these days is $60k and then 10k over seems to be what most people are getting these days on Ebay that is. It seems to have a lot to due with the color - white being the cheapest..

I had a dealer tell me that he was getting $30K over sticker.. what planet is he on..

It seems that no one on ebay is getting over 15k over sticker..

Correct me if I wrong...

thoughts..

It's the old supply and demand thing.
The imbeciles are in demand but apparently in short supply.

From what I have seen, you are correct. The $20-30k over crowd has expired. I think the $15 overs are on the clock with time expiring. It appears that the $10-12k over is here or quickliy approaching. It seems like it's a matter of time before MSRP. Who knows though, as slowly as thier arriving, that keeps the prices up too.

I was at a local dealership and they had a white one and were asking $20k over but said that I could have it for $10K over as a favor...I hope that goes for ordering one as well..I will find out on Monday.. we will see.

My local dealer just sold a coupe with an MSRP of 43 something for 63 and change. So 20K over. I know the guy who bought it too and he verified it.

I agree here. I have been watching it closely. A lot of cars are not selling as they don't meet the reserve. The bidding is stopping at 10-12 over for those cars. Occasionally a knucklehead steps in and pays 20. I have seen a few lately that have not sold for under 10. A few weeks ago there were 3. One at 7 over and 2 at 9 over. These were not the ones that are removed because it sold locally. These cars were relisted.

Stay the course my friends. We will have our day soon.

Who's doing who the favor? If it's sitting there it isn't sold. It's a "show me the money" situation. 10k is better than any other offer presently on the table. Dealer . I've purchased a lot of vehicles for my business fleet from a lot of ungrateful dealers that never felt they owed me .None of them offered me a GT 500 at any below market discounts either. Good luck on your purchase. Beware of the greedy dealer.

I have mixed feelings about the dealer mark up - But I do feel that it is TOTAL that a dealership can get a car from FORD and put it up on Ebay to the highest bidder... Ford should never allow that...

Agreed. Like I used to say: are they retailers, or auction houses?

Talked to a dealer at a show this weekend and they took 20k over but negotiated down from 30k. Of course he also said they only sold two of the eleven they were alloted. I think the supply and demand curve is going to change when they have 9 Shelby's sitting on the lot.

Without fools paying the ADM, the ADM would go away. I don't support the dealerships by any means, but, we (the buyers) are the ones that need to stop the ADMs. Dealers are going to take as much as they can get on any car. This one has enough hype that the uninformed are paying the extreme ADMs. If we could get them to stop paying it, it will go away. All we can do about it is discuss it here and hope the people buying these cars read it and decide against ADMs. Also, we need to stop helping people find cars at ADMs (I have intentionally never steered anyone toward a car that is getting ADM). The longer those cars sit, the lower the dealer will go on the price.

How did that saying go, "Those who don't learn from history will repeat it."? There was a period in '05 when the GTs had an ADM of up to $10K. Now an '06 GT has a $1500 cash back for a cash deal and the '07 has a $500 rebate for the same deal. That and I've noticed that the GT500 is currently the only Mustang not on the X-plan.

I think that one was from the same chapter as "A fool and his money are soon parted."

The history of ADMs on Mustangs (and other cars for that matter) goes back farther than that. They always come down to rebates eventually.

The simple fact is there are plenty of people with more money than sense. I can't blame them, if I were loaded I wouldn't think twice about paying a premium for a product I wanted sooner than later. I figure when they run out of those people the price will decrease.
