What is the thought on the Shelby GT500? If you were to buy an 07 now, how much is everyone expecting this car to be worth in two years with say 10,000 miles on it? Will it be worth 40,000? 35,000? Your thoughts.

IMHO this car won't appreciate that much for quite a while.......Depends on how many more are produced (08 for sure, 09 ?? ). With the Shelby name prospects are good that it will have a great value....... 20 years down the road.

Buy one because you intend to drive it and enjoy it, while having it for a long time. Cars rarely make good investments.

Deeler just called me again. Said I should go to their deelership to talk about pricing, but this time they did not mention a specific mark up. They might be getting desperate to move it. (It's a blue coupe w/ white stripes and all black interior w/ a Shaker 1000)

These guys are going to hang on to these cars as long as they can and try to keep the hype up by not budging on the ADMs. They figure someone will get itchy and pay it. If not, they will still be able to sell it for MSRP later. Problem is, when all of these dealers do this, sooner or later the country will have an abundance of the cars and the ADMs will go away. Be patient. More choices are coming and the GT500 will not be the only 500hp car under $50k. Prices will come down to normal eventually.

I been getting calls from dealers with available GT500s. My first question after the sales pitch: is there a markup? Of course there is, and of course I am not interested!
Then the justification part comes in. I listen patiently and politely, then when I get the chance I lower the boom: "... I can understand, even sympathize with you, specially the way Ford and you dealers are going, do you think it is possible this might have something to do with less Mustangs being sold?".
One reply: "Of course not, Mustang sales are higher than ever before!"
"... hmm, I wonder why your dealer inventory list has not updated in the last six weeks?"

I think it will drop to a standard of 5 over soon.

They may come down to Earth soon. Remember, these dealers buy the cars from Ford. The longer they sit, the more it costs the dealership to have it on its lot (insurance, etc.).
Eventually, they will reach the "law of diminishing returns" threshold, and they will be forced to sell at MSRP.
In the long run, their greed is only costing THEM money - in all sorts of ways.
