A Base Corvette W/ 400 Hp Beats Up At 500hp Stang!! Thats Sad!!
The Vette Is 600 Lbs Lighter. That Like Having 3 Extra People In Your Stang. Of Course That Effects The Performance. Very Dissappointed. When I First Saw The Front Page I Thought It Was Going To Be The Z06 Vette Vs Gt500 Instead They Didnt Even Need One To Compare. Ford Wake Up.

The same song was being played almost as often as now prior to the '03 Cobra realese. With the exception of the Stallion concept and 2K Cobra R there is not one other Mustang that can keep up with it, or most cars for that matter.

Both Shelbys had Michigan manufacturer plates...looks like they were driven and not trucked

thats not a back seat. my 4 year old is tight back there. anyway did you see in that 0-150mph the shelby is 3 seconds slower then the vette. thats alot. and if you go read in the same issue the bmw M6 ran 0-150 in 19.5 compared to 30.3 for the shelby. thats a life time. i know the m6 is 100k car but both have 500 hp and both weigh about the same the bmw M6 12lb heavier. im just bumped out that these numbers from MT,C&D,R&T MAGAZINES..maybe FF&MM come up with better #?

News Flash: Corvette is a lightweight sports car, Mustang is a heavy muscle car.

0-60 in 4.5 and the 1/4 is a pokey 12.9. Just saying pokey for the amount of Horsepower it has...maybe due to a conservative tune?

I'd rather charge my GT and be faster since WE're lighter.

Motortrend and Hot Rod both seemed like they still liked it a lot though despite some short comings. Motortrend atleast compared it to cars that were more in it's class. I don't usually like anything Car and Driver has to say anyway

Vette is a basically a poor man's supercar, while the Mustang is a Muscle/Sports Tourer type car. Also it might be a good bit heavier and just a tick behind the C6 (mag times), but the GT500 has a lot more power potential with the blown 5.4 from the factory. I say wait and see the actual potential of the car when real drag racers get their hands on them, with some stickier meats on the back with some competent drivers piloting them down the track.

12.7 @116 were the numbers, and a trap speed of 116 is very low 12's/high 11's

Then maybe your 4 year old is huge.

My 11 year old and my 8 year old (tall girls) have no problems. riding in the back seat of my S197. The 11 year old is as big as a small adult (5ft tall). I am 6'6" tall and my seat is back all the way. Their feet are tight when riding behind me, but the rest of the seat is fine.

Anyhow, comparing a GT (car style, not the name of the car model) to a sports car is an effort in futility.

You know what really sucks about the Corvette? I can't fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood in the back. I can't believe they put out a $45K car and expect people to buy it if you can't run to Home Depot and pick up big supplies.

Which leads me to believe that with better rear tires and a deeper rear end ratio, it will be hitting low 12's or better.

considering the shelby for next year or maybe if the bullitt or boss come all. you guys are saying wait for FF&MM to test the shelby for better numbers. MM&FF may get better number which i hope but that doesnt make sense since the magazine drivers are driving the other car at the same playing field and time. when MM&FF test the shelby then they should test the vette. it not like one magazine tested the vette and then the other magazine tested the shelby. you have to compare apples to apples.

MM&FF may in fact test the GT500 with a Vette. When the Mach 1 came out they tested it against a GTO.
