Idiot wrecks his '08 Shelby

Normally I would have sympathy for someone and would not call them an idiot but in this case this guy IS an idiot. One of the guys over on our SVO forum heard a crash and turns out that this IDIOT crashed his 2008 GT500 into their brick fence that runs along side their house.

As you can see the car is totalled and its nothing short of a miracle that this guy didn't kill someone. It happened in Texas near Fort Worth.

Of course he was first on the scene and had this to say about the guy:

"The driver was drunk but didn't get hurt, always the drunks that walk away. His T shirt read, MEMBER OF THE 100MPH CLUB"

I hope this is a wake up call for this guy and he learns a lesson about drinking and driving before he does something that cannot be repaired to someone else or himself!

Shirt should have read "member of the big losers club". Was he drunk when he put those side badges on his car as well?

His T shirt should have read: "All I wanted was a Grand sport corvette, but my parents got me this shelby instead."

Maybe he has an identical GT500, thus the reasoning for the stripes. Not so much a Grand Sport exclusive item . . .

Back in the day those style stripes were used to identify a car at speed....however Yellow was used to identify a Rookie and known as "Rookie stripes"....

So in this case they were at least applied accurately

Not only was it a GT 500, it was a 40th anniversary version (shelby mod shop package that includes silver stripes, different style rocker stripes and 40th anniversary badges. It also may include 605 or 725hp version of the engine).

The fender stripes weren't exclusive to Corvette grand sports. Although they were most recently used on the 96 Corvette GS, they were used by many car racing teams back in the 60's including
Shelbys.

Quite a few Shelby owners, including myself, have them on their cars. Here's a whole thread full of cars with them

Hey Mark, how's it going? Car looks GREAT!!! I'm a full-fledge member on TS now, and have contemplated adding white "FIA stripes" to my car, but can't get myself to pull the trigger. I found them on a site. All precut, and available. Just have to decide on adding them or not. Hope all is well dude.
