GT500 airbag recall

I stopped by the dealer for an oil change and was adviced the '07s are involved and couldn't tell if the '08s are included since the vin number is what brings up the notice.

It's not showing up on the NHTSA website, I guess it has not taken effect yet? I haven't heard anything about it.

The service advisor tolm me she did not have the information required to correct the problem yet. I will stop by the dealer on Tuesday and inquire further.

I just checked the MyFord website for my '06 GT, and it lists an airbag recall in the recall section. It doesn't have any info about it though. Here is what it says...

2006 Ford Mustang VIN: 1zvht82h46511XXXX DEMONSTRATION/DELIVERY HOLD - PERFORM PRIOR TO VEHICLE DELIVERY - PASSENGER AIRBAGRecall Code: 08C02

That's what i was thinking, why would the airbags in a GT500 be any different than any other mustang?

As I posted, it popped up when the vin number was entered. I took my other car two months ago for an oil change and nothing was mentioned so this might be a silent recall which was recently posted. I decided to post this information to bring awareness but would prefer if it did not exist at all.

Just checked 'My Ford' and the same notice came up for the Bullitt.

Thanks for posting that.
Sounds like if you follow what is already advised in the owner manual. - wear seat belts, position distanced away from airbag, - there isn't a problem.
Big recall from the results of testing one vehicle.

It does state 'certain' 2005-2008 Mustangs

The question is will they tell you if they update. If not I could have a problem if they flash over the tune I have on it.

I don't think they flash the ECM.

the letter states

updated with new software for the restraint control module
It would appear that module can be updated itself, or maybe replaced.

It says RCM specifically so that means they didn't touch the ecm? George can you find out?

Roger: I just spoke to the service advisor and was told the correction was limited to the restraint control module.
