Good deal or not?
Im just about to buy a 2008 Shelby GT500, hes requesting a 5000 diference for my 2008 Mustang GT,dey both hav 24000 miles on em amd theyre both like new, with no problems or issues whatso ever,so im wondering though since it seems alot of guys are having clutch issues,if it could happen, and theres no warranty on it,could I just buy a new flywheel and clutch from am.com for like 700 for both,or why is every body coming up with that it costs 4000 to repair?

You also have to realize there will be differences off of the dealer lot when it comes to upkeep. Call your insurance company to figure out how much more a GT500 is going to cost you. Gas will also cost more because its inevitable you're going to put your foot down, especially in the beginning of ownership.
An oem clutch kit runs 2k, which is where people are getting the large numbers from. If you're going to keep it a twin disk, McLeod runs about $1,600, Spec super twins range from $1,400 and up.

A Man Just Needs Some....
I would say go for it if the deal is legit. The Shelby is a lot more car. Blower alone for the gt is more than $5k. And still not the power. Clutches happen. Don't even worry about it until you need one.

Yea thats an awsome way to look into it,im buying a supercharger for my current car but im getting a new car with it,and insurance isint to bad, clutch issues I dont like much, had a 98 trans am with an ls1, smoking the clutch more then tires isint much fun.
What about modding it? How does it handle an extra 150hp to the wheels?

I have a 2008 GT 500, I had and 06 gt, there is no comparison between the 2 cars, my gt did not stop nearly as well as my brembo equipped shelby, I have done the standard mods on it, intake, pulley, exhaust and a tune.... The car flies, it will smoke just about any supercharged 3 valve, I have raced several stage 3 rousch's and beat them with no problem.
The 150 hp should not be and issue, I would start looking at replacing the driveshaft and heat exchanger if oyu go much above 150 additional hp.
I hope this helps in your decision....
post or pm me any other questions I will be glad to he p if I can...
