eBay outingray

Feel like eBay GT500 sales are showing the world that they will never be able to afford a GT500 unless they are willing to pay 59,000?

How about this? I placed a bid for $38,000 for one of the GT500s on eBay. I was outbid and the autction reached $59,100. The day after the auction ended I received a "second chance offer" for my original bid of $38,000. Those eBay cars are not selling for the amounts listed on there. It seems to me that those dealerships are likely getting their employees to bid the cars up using their personal eBay accounts and then giving a second chance offer to whoever bites and then trying to push the price up from there.

BTW, I contacted the seller about my $38,000 second chance offer....and they told me that they would be happy to sell the car to me for $55,000.
I told them that I would be happy to see that car sit on their lot for the next six months.

When you got the second chance offer 38K did you bid on it? If yes, didn't you tell them how come I won 38K auction and now you are asking 55K? Report them to ebay for not honoring the auction terms.....

Are you sure the "second chance" bid came from the seller? There is a long running scam on eBay where the scammer will send a faked "second chance" bid email to people who bid on an auction. They hope you'll transfer money to their account and then they are gone.

I have received these scam emails before but only on larger ticket items I have bid on. The example being a pinball machine where the bid was in the $2,000-$3,000 range.

Yeah if you got a "second chance offer" then they have to honor it... or report them to Ebay.

So, it's sold but the seller is willing to forfeit an additional $4K? How thoughtful! I don't doubt your statement but I am inclined to think the bids are at best, questionable.

If you would want to make money on any item, wouldn't you ask your friends or business associates to help you out and place some bids?

For the dealers there is no need for ebay. After all, doesn't every Ford dealer have a 3 page waiting list of potential buyers willing to pay the $25K AMV right now?

re: wating list to pay $25K over

I have a list waiting to buy if we get anymore allocation. I told the 3 people who really want a car that I would go out to other dealersa dnsee how much I could get them one for but that I know that it would be for $10K or more over as that is probably what I would have to pay. All 3 declined and said they would wait to see if we got any more. So if youfind anyone wiho wants to pay $25 K over, I can come up woith a car from another dealer and maybe even save them a little!
My 3 cars that i know we are getting have been sold by me for MSRP [boy are the salespersons P.O.'d; not to mention the New Car manager].

Sucks to hear they are P.O.'d but the cars are sold and the dealership is still making money while keeping good face. In the long run it will do a lot more for the dealership then a quick chase grab.
