Conv or Coupe
Hey guys really thinking about trying to pick up a GT500. But what are the pros and cons of a coupe to a conv? (Besides the price). Owners chime in!

not an owner....but I've always been in the camp that a perfomance car is best in coupe form. If you are racing/driving aggresively, you would probably want the top up anyway...so why even have the vert.
BUT...if you will use it for a lot of cruising and car shows and gerneral fun car, you may want to have the convertable cause it would be way fun to have the top down on the cool summer evening.....then you can always put the top up fo "go time"...
You also might consider the stripe options available for the coupe, and how they would look different with the top having a differnt color (unless you get a black one) and the different body lines the top makes. An then there is always the money issue...
If I were to get a GT500...I think I would get a coupe becuase I would have to have stripes...I would never add them to a vert....and I could always get another convertable to cruise in down the road.

I would go with the vert if its top is color keyed and has over the top factory stripes.

I would be going black so the top would be black as well. I can really see how the lines are changed by the drop but I road in my friends 06GT covert and it was fun. I just don't know if I would like it enough to drive it all the time.

Coupe for sure. And I hate the fact that you might be getting one and I'm not. They just aren't practically priced for me right now. ADM's aren't my friend.

GT500 converts have a slightly softer suspension setup than the coupes. If you're planning on mods to increase power, I'd be looking at a coupe. Some of the 600+ HP owners are finding the vert structure doesn't take well to the increased torque.

I have a convertible S-197, and yeah the verts are sweet! But, if I were going to get a GT500, it'd be a coupe hands down. Red with white racing stripes please!

I had a coupe I miss the fold down seats so if you lock heys in trunk and door is open its ok but with a convertable no folding seat you lock key in trunk your screwed, and yesterday I popped into work Ed there's a crow on your head rest ! I wipped out the airsoft loaded max tension on the spring and it made a mess.

I always thought verts had better frames than coupes. Used to be that way, anyway. I'm planning on putting CAI, pulley, and a tune on my vert.

Myth:
A convertible has less straight line performance than a coupe.
Truth:
Convertibles are faster than the coupe 0-60, see M/T, R/T, C/D.
Myth:
Coupes are much more rigid than convertibles.
Truth:
Convertibles come with extra bracing and have NO cowl shake. Plus roll bars are far easier to install in a convertible.
Myth:
Modified coupes handle better than modified convertibles.
Truth:
Modified convertibles can weigh less, have a lower center of gravity, and can out handle coupes.
Myth:
Coupe drivers have more fun than Convertible drivers.
Truth:
Some coupe drivers see convertibles drivers and ask why didn't I?
My thoughts:
The convertible experience is far superior to the coupe. On a track, 110mph in a convertible is far superior than 110mph is a coupe.
Around town, people notice convertibles.
In the curves, what is more exciting than top down cruising.
