Barrett Jackson to Auction First 07 Shelby
#84
Well, that's a heck of a lot more than I was anticipating. Isn't that more than the FORD GT from a couple years ago at the auction? I believe this will make a difference on pricing for the average guy. Ya, prices will come down eventually. Seeing this make me think that we won't see prices at MSRP for some time. Maybe buyers are thinking the SHELBY name on back will make it more of a collectors item. Argh. Just give me a Cobra then...

Shelby's will NOT be at MSRP anytime soon. With the limited run scheduled, markups will continue. Of course they will come down as time passes , but shelby below MSRP in the next 5 years?...won't happen

Gotta love language filters.....
BTW, I would agree with you.

That said, it's worth what people are willing to pay - not what the sum of the parts actually are. I love the car, but let's face it, when it comes to overall refinement (which is actually important to some people - hard to believe, I know) the Shelby can't touch the new G35 coupe concept, for example, that was shown at NAIAS this month.
That being said, the G35 would NEVER fetch $600K on the auction block, either.
Crazy old world, isn't it?

what you see there is fair market value, like it or not. Its not enough for me to want to haul my car down there next year, even though its tempting, we are attached to our shelby and are into it for the long haul...or the last stop before bankruptcy.
I agree its very hard to justify some of those figures tonight, but for the most part the bidders just looked like normal folk..aside for the occasional washed up rock star and museum curator.

I'm going to buy a Shelby Vert as soon as they are reasonable. If I can get one for around 50k-55k I'll bite the bullet. I think that being one of the first to have one will be pretty cool.
Unlike my GT I won't mod the Shelby. I think changing the wheels, lights, etc would be a mistake. I will just drive it and wash it. Oh, and cuddle with it.
Can't wait!

the ford gt sold for 250K, so I was totally shocked that this sold for so much, holy crapola, but the muscle car is definately back in a big way, but some of those prices were just completely ridiculous.
