Notice The CONCEPT PHOTO Disclaimer. How Close will the Production Car be to this?

This Is Not Going to Help with the Little Guy who wants a Shelby. High Rollers will buy them just to Turn. It Will Get Silly. Any Guesses as to What the FIRST 07 Shelby will sell for?

Well...at least they're saying this is the first one to be available to the public for sale. Regardless of what they go for to Joe Public, the first one will be "different" and hold a value separate from later VIN #'s.

If I remember correctly the first new Charger got auctioned for 75 grand when it came out. So $150 grand could be a good number.

I suppose thats the nail in the coffin? What I mean is, that auction is going to make it near impossible to get the new GT500 at anywhere near its MSRP? That is assuming that the original MSRP is close to what an 'average joe' like me can afford. Yuck.

I still want one though

EDIT: I'll guess it goes for over 500K

I guess we will be RECREATING The Shelby. Thats The Current Term Used by Barret Jackson instead of Clone.

"The car will be produced to the successful bidder's specification, including the color and factory available options, ..."

Again I am curious as to what options they refer to...

I have heard the leather dash may be an option, but I have also heard that different wheels, hoods and maybe a few other things could be an option too.

Makes me wonder....

My guess would be closer to $500,000.00 as it said it would be one of the first build (low Vin#). I could even see it go for $750,000.00.

I've seen this auction before and what some people will pay is ridiculus for some of the cars I've seen.

don't let it scare you, many dealers are selling for only MSRP.This is just a low VIN car auctioning for charity.

Great. Now dealers will have ammo to base their "market adjustments" on. There goes my thoughts on buying one. :notnice:

This is actually old news here. There's already two threads about it. Here's a link to the one Brad posted:

At least the proceeds from the auction are going to charity.

IMO, Popularity sells and Barrett-Jackson is popular.

They are hot alright. They've have been made popular by the naive and ignorant. Never mind the ex-convict, organized crime appearance and behavior. They are no better than vultures and other cheap scavengers. They have done more harm than good to the classics and their enthusiastic fans, all for money.

But apparently their deeds and image are not an issue with Ford and suits them just fine. Why am I not surprised? I guess Ford has forgotten how successful past reputable auctions have been with Ford products, specially with their prototypes.

Disclaimer: For any of you POS shysters representing Ford or your newly found intimate associates, I am expressing my thoughts and opinions, which I am entitled to, which should not be too far from the truth either. In my opinion, of course.

OK, I think many of you are crazy thinking this car is going for over $500,000. My guess, $89,000.

I would say ... dont panic ... give it time, the excitement will settle down. The first few 100 that roll off the line will be fought for ... for the right to get production number #1 for 100+K at some silly auction. I will be just as happy to get one from a consignment place in two years when it was driven for only 10K miles.

there are plenty of shelby's out there and hopefully a GT 350 around the corner.

crossing fingers.
