Am I the first one to get pulled over?

Yes, it happened this am on I-95. Got off the ramp at 90 mph. Slowed it back down to 80. He let me off with a warning. Good thing I hadn't bumped it up to 125 yet.....

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like your all too pleased and thrilled to drive 125 MPH (which is WAY over the limit) on I-95. I wouldn't go bragging about that IMO. Even on I-95, thats stupid speed, and is really dangerous and childish.

Haha, screw 'im. We all die eventually...might as well be in some sweet car wreck.

That comment was partially in jest, but in all honesty, Jeff, have you ever considered that some people are capable of handling their car at that speed? Perhaps Judy driving 125 in a Shelby is JUST as in control as Beth driving 80 on a cellphone in a Geo Metro.

I get so tired of these internet tongue-lashings.

My car will break the speed limit too, but I rarely drive over 80 mph.

Do what you want but please don't endanger any other people when you drive at 125.

At 125 mph, even the slightest flinch, or wrong movement can cause SERIOUS consiquences! You don't know what can happen at that speed. A tire can blow out, a deer can run infront of you, something CAN happen. At 70, you have a much better chance of controlling your car if something above were to happen. I'm sure you would change your tune if someone you cared about was seriously injured by someone driving at that speed!

Molo and GRYPNY, thanks for the positive insight. Keep the speed at the limit (or what others are doing on the highway) OR take it to the track.

Actually someone speeding on a remote road scares me a lot less than a person weaving through traffic while chatting on a cel phone/ smoking/ putting on makeup/ shaving/ reading. Those are the people that REALLY scare me.

Why keep the speed at the limit? No one obeys them for the most part. They are ridiculously low anyway for the express purpose of fattening up the governmental wallet.

If Judy and her car can handle the speed, traffic is minimal AND she isn't weaving/racing/talking on her cell phone/eating etc why not? It's her ticket.

Lighten up - it's the moralistic people like you that were responsible for the double nickel in the 1970s.

I don't know what you see others doing on the highway. I see a lot of cars passing me when I am doing 80 in my Ranger on my way to work every day.
That's in a 55 zone. If I was driving in a 65 zone they would be doing over 100. Live Free or Die... it says it right on my plate.

Excuse me!! You don't know me, so don't assume I had anything to do with the speed limit back in the 70's, OK!! Heck, I wasn't born till '76. My post is about EXCESSIVE speed, not driving with the flow of traffic at 70 or 80 mph. I am talking about over 100 mph, or as Shelby put it 125 mph and 140 mph. How would you feel if someone you loved (wife, kids, parents) were killed because some fool was excessively speeding (110+ MPH) on the highway. And that same person thought that they could control the car at these speeds, but then crashed. I bet you would be real P.O'ed then, and would care alot more.

Let me tell you, no one here can account for the unexpected things that can happen at excessive speeds. If your doing 100, 110+ mph, and get a blowout, most people have the tendency to stomp on the brake and turn the wheel in a panic (which is the wrong thing to do, most know this)! If everyone was able to handle their cars at high rate of speeds (again over 100 mph), then everyone would be professional racecar drivers (this is sarcasm). Even if its a dark and empty highway, things can still happen. A deer can come out of nowhere and destroy a car doing over 100 mph. I've seen a deer destroy an Explorer and it was doing 70!

The whole point of my original post is to say something when she stated that she hadn't gotten a chance to do 125+ mph on the ramp (she got caught). Then her reply was she would have done 140 in a sinch. This is why I posted what I did. I'm not crying about doing 70, or 80 on the highway. These speeds are the flow of traffic on most highways. Last time I remember, the flow wasn't doing 125+ to 140 . That is why I posted what I did. Some of you are taking what I posted WAY OUT OF CONTEXT. You make is sound like I am going off on anyone doing 2 mph over the limit. Not at all, my post was about EXCESSIVE speed. In this case,125 mph, and 140mph, like she said. That type of speed is stupid, no matter how you look at it.

And Karman, I'm sure you like your license plate, but I was already at death's door once (it wasn't fun, trust me). Having experienced that, I want to stick around for a little while longer.

ONLY ONCE !!!

I was already driving when you were born.
I've met with death more than you ever will.
I shook his hand and said no thanks many times.
My friends haven't been so lucky, but very few ever died from car accidents.
I have ridden with some of my dear departed friends at over 160mph on my local roads without a problem.
DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER?
.
I am not saying that I speed all the time. Heck, I haven't gotten a speeding ticket since the '70s.
I just think that it is possible to speed safely.

Having "Live Free Or Die" on my plate is mandated by state law.

I'm not gonna crucify you for speeding. Who in here have lit their tires up before? That's illegal... and dangerous... Pffff. As long as you didn't have children in the car, do as you please.
