07 Shelby
#1
Don`t know where else to stick this but today I found out from the dealer I`m trying to order a Shelby from informed me that CA is only getting seven cars for the entire first year run, this came from Ford, so those of us that have been trying for almost a year to get this car will not be able to compete against people who can offer 10 to 15,000 more for the car.
I fell Ford is going for the max $ they can get for this car, knowing there are people out there that can pay these huge markups, unlike myself who cannot afford these markups.

So the largest car selling state is only getting less than 0.1% of total production allocation? That sounds like complete ... Shop around, you can buy a car anywhere these days.

I do believe California will receive more then7 during the first year. A recent study done by Ford indicates 10,000 units will be produced per year to keep demand optimum. I would imagine this will allow dealers to sell all of the allocated vehicles at or above MSRP. I know a few dealerships have attempted to determine how much above MSRP they can get. There was an EBay vehicle order that was pulled but not until the dealer saw he could get 25K over MSRP. I would envision the dealers off the bat will be looking to grab as much as they can per unit, and that is only fitting given the high demand, and expectation for this vehicle. Oh yeah and looking at Fords numbers as of late they need a vehicle like this to sell well and the dealers need something to pull in some extra cash.

Unfortuneately if you want to have a Shelby and want to get it right when it is released, you will have to pay a premium most likely. Why would a dealer sell the car to you for sticker when they can sell the car to someone else for sticker +an extra $10,000 profit.

I feel so USED, sorry I meant to say reconditioned. Look at that, already I am feeling better.

I talked to two of the Chicagoland dealerships and one was getting 3 Shelbys, the other 2. That's already almost what the goofy dealer quoted for all of CA.

And even that number is not correct. That is likely the minimum they will get. Read the Hazel letter stickied at the top of the page.

I was in a local small town dealership last Friday and asked if they were getting any Shelbys in. Apparently participating dealerships have to be certified before they can sell them, the mechanics require special training, etc. Anyway, he said they are supposed to get an allocation of 3 or 4. They are anticipating a 20k markup. I said "Well, I suppose you have to get the money where you can since I'm sure you're not making much on some of the other models.". His reply was "Yeah, we're not making much on ANY of the other models!" Really 60k doesn't seem unreasonable for a Shelby considering what blown Saleens and Roushes go for. It's just the thought that 20k of that 60 is pure dealer markup that drives everyone bananas.

I`m sorry, this kind of markup is just pure greed, this dealership is obviously not worth dealing with, if they play this kind of markup game then they do it on all their cars, my dealer has already told me that the markup will be no higher than $7500.00

Dealers in the Portland, OR area are all saying that they are going for a $10K markup min. Not hard to believe when most of the dealers were getting 5-7K over on GT's. The Shelbys will be insanly marked up the first year or two and what is sad is that they will get what they are asking.

FoMoCo doesn't receive any of the "added value" mark-up. It's all dealer profit!

Thank you!!!!...I've been trying to explain that to hundreds of people and they just can't seem to grasp it!!...Hello?!!...Its the Greedy Dealers that screw it up for everyone else!!

In other news, MY dealer told me that British Columbia is getting 3496 Shelbys this year.
Hmmmmm, I wonder if there's a correlation there?
