first mustang for me, but not the first mustang in my family. back in the day when my dad was a bachelor living in ontario he owned a '67 pony he bought used in 1969. he survived 3 brutal winters with that thing before it rusted into the ground... oh well.

i came from a 2007 vw gti. first and last german car for me. it blew up (cam follower failure, google it), and then i got bent over by vw over warranty coverage (ie. none, another painful story i don't want to repeat). i sold the gti as-is at a loss, scraped together what little i had and bought one of the last four 2011's left in my province, and was the only one with the brembo package. $44k msrp but i paid $36k after discounts and rebates. ken evans ford ftw for buying experience, but i am going to brown bros. ford for service because it's closer.

i am hoping it will stay with me and not give me grief, but if there happens to be a fire sale on a minty used boss302... heh.

I dont own a new Mustang but have had 3. My first was a 67 coupe with a 289. It was wore out when I got it but I drove it through high school. I so wish I would have hung on to that car. I sold it for 750 dollars and that was big money back in the day. I upgraded to a 84 GT and thought I was hot stuff. It had no AC or anything and had over 100K when I bought it but it was well taken care of and not abused. The 302 was solid as it could be.

It was a hatch back and rattled and had the typical problems. Had starter problems with it but otherwise a mechanically solid car for the most part.

Then, I bought a brand new 03 Mach 1. The shaker hood scoop just put me over the edge because I remembered them and lusted after one from 1969. Yes, Im on old fart. I still have the car and still love it despite its short comings. Ford really did a good job here imo. Its still a hoot to drive even after all of these years. Ford almost lost me to GM because at that point in my life all out power was very important and the Mach will give a LS1 all it can handle. I have since calmed way down and all out performance is not at the top of my list any longer.

My Mother is 75 years young and has a 06 GT vert. I have come to appreciate verts which I never wanted but now really really like. Its an auto but what fun this car is. They dont drive it much in the winter but in the summer months the top comes down everytime it leaves the garage. Its been a really good car so far minus one alternator. She loves the car and recently some young punks pulled up to her at a red light and made some lude comments. They were in a Chryco vert of some sort. When the light turned she floored the car and left black marks and blew their doors off. LOL She told me about it and said she didnt know what came over her. I just laughed and said be careful. This was right in front of the state police barracks.

Its amazing that Mustangs appeal to so many people across such a broad age spectrum. I just love these cars and sometimes I get critical of them but its not like we are talking about a Focus or something. Ford Mustangs are just great fun.

This is my 4th.
1st 85GT w/t-tops
2nd 94GT
3rd 02GT
Current 11GT

My 11 is by far the most fun to drive and by far the fastest I've owned. All 4 have been manual. This one is the 1st I haven't put Flowmasters and Eibachs on. I miss the old sound for sure but none of them compare to my 11 with the Roush exhaust.

I'm on my third Mustang:

1.) 1966 Mustang C code coupe; pony interior; 289 with auto trans - My first car. I bought it in 1988. I rear ended a truck in 1991 and put the car in my Uncle's barn. It's still waiting for me to fix it!

2.) 1965 Mustang A code coupe; std interior; 289 & 4 spd trans - sold it in April 2011.

3.) 2011 Mustang 5.0 - best car out of the three so far!

Think I missed this thread also.

First Mustang for me. Wife had a 98 convertible GT that I played with a bit.

Was always a Pontiac fan as an 84 Firebird was my first car. Owned three other Firebirds/Formulas/Trans Ams during my life since then.

Would probably be in a Vette if not for the daily driving aspect and unbelievably bad interior. The Mustang was the perfect car for my needs at this time. Nice daily driver with some reasonable play when necessary and fun to take on road course events. Mods are usually pretty reasonable in price which is also an added bonus.

It's probably a little bit painful. Like seeing your old lady and she's with your friend.

Anyway. It was a beauty. Gotta love the '69.

My first.

Haven't cared for the look of the car since Ford stretched it in '71. ('69 Boss 429 is one of my all time favorite cars).

'74-'04, couldn't pay me enough to own one.

When the '05 came out, coupled with the Superbowl commercial they morphed Steve McQueen into, I was impressed. '10 model body tweeks were a big improvement and really got my attention.

But it wasn't until the 5.0 came out that I was sold and had to have one.

Most increadible car I've ever driven, let alone owned.

15K miles in 5 months and I still sport wood just thinking about it.
