Learn something new everyday, i never knew why that ridge was on there. As far as saving money, i did read once that Ford nixed the irs in 2005 because it would have cost $125 per car, so they kept the stick axle.

 

I was wondering what that was...

as for dash rattles, I guess I'm lucky I have none, but my rear view mirror vibrates now over bumps, at 20k miles I hope it's still under warranty (1 year 7 months)... we'll see when I take it in for the 20k mile oil change / service...

I noticed that right away on my 2014, and figured it was for the airbag. But what bugs me is that the "ridge" is not exactly centered.
