Thanks for all the info and opinions, thanks a ton for the info Five Oh Brian.

After much thinking I bought a 2013 SHO last night, Brian I've been a long time customer of Bill Pierre Ford, they have treated me extremely well over the years. I got in with the x-plan and they also got me an additional $3500 in rebates on the car, super happy with the car so far.

As for the 2012 Mustang I went down yesterday afternoon and started to remove my aftermarket parts and the few remaining personal items from the car. Was very sad, going to miss the old girl, but I'm still happy with the new car direction I chose.

In-case the ins company question was pointed at me I'm with Farmers, they have also been very very good to me over the last 25 years. They are even letting me remove my aftermarket parts which from what I understand is not very common.

As for parts from the stang I plan on selling them and the fine people on this forum can have first grab at them, here's the list of items.

Boss 302 intake
C & L CAI w/filter for Boss 302 intake
SCT tuner with 87 performance tune and 92 perfomance 92 street and 92 race tunes, all for Boss 302 intake (from Bama)
Boss 302 strut tower brace
Boss 302 oil cooler
MGW shifter

Once I have the salvage cost of the car I'll post that, in the end the front end frame clip and engine cradle have a large amount of damage so the car is no good as a racer. I know some folks might be interested in the motor/trany if the price is right.
What color did you get?

I'll post pics of the SHO after I wash it tonight.

The saga of the mustang however took a crappy turn.

The insurance adjuster released the car to the salvage yard before I could get to it, so I was not allowed to remove any of the mods. I went round and round on the phone for hours yesterday with the yard and the adjuster. I explained that I had not removed anything while it was at the shop as at first the car was going to be repaired, so there was no need. The Adjuster kept telling them they approved me to remove any mods as long as I returned the OEM parts (I had kept them all) the salvage yard just kept telling us to go **** up a rope

So for those that had PM'd me for parts, I'm sorry but I was not able to pull any of them off. In the end they allowed me to pull the cables for my Garmin and Escort and the speakers, sub and amp.

At this point I'm just glad its over and I don't need to stress over it any more.

The SHO is amazing, as much as I hate to admit it, it is way more fun to drive than the mustang. It's no where as brutal in the application of power, but dayam its smooth, quiet and comfortable. And dayam it goes around corners SOOOOOOOO much better, it also sounds awesome with the mufflers cut off and straight pipes welded in.

I will continue to read and post here, this is a great forum with great people, but I can also be found over at http://www.ecoboostownerforums.com/ under the name of Desoter_SHO.

thanks everyone

congrats man.... however, not sure if "so much better" than the mustang is a qualified statement. In the end, it's all subjective.

I'm glad you love your car....

I love my pony...

yours is perfect/best for you now, and mine is perfect/best ever for me

Having owned a 2005 and 2012, both lowered, caster camber plates, upgraded wheels and tires. I can say with a fair amount of conviction that the SHO is vastly better around the corners than the Mustang. It's far more composed, far better wheel and brake feel, better balanced, tracks better, more controlled when you drive a bit past grip and slide a bit.

4 wheel independent suspension and intelligent AWD of course adds to this, but until I really drove it I hadn't really felt what a hindrance the live axle in the mustang was. Don't get me wrong I loved both of my stangs, and miss my 2012, but I have had my eyes opened on the handling side of things.

On a side note if anyone is interested in the mustang as salvage, the still runs great, and all my aftermarket goodies are still on it, here is the info.

Insurance auto auctions

lot # 11293115

Currently they are asking 13k for the car.

I understand.... I've driven a few of the new SHO's, 2 of my good friends have one. I much prefer my pony. Again, to me at least, all subjective.

But I do love that turbo boost and awd. And no one can deny the room in the back.

Congrats again and enjoy your new ride.

Glad you're OK and glad your happy. The SHO looks nice.

I would've told them to suck it and taken my aftermarket parts lol, assuming you had the stockers to put on.

Good luck.

PS what was the estimate for repair if you recall..

Yeah had the mufflers removed within 12 hours of taking delivery of the car

Spent a fair amount of time on the ecoboost forums educating myself on mods for the SHO, exhaust is pretty expensive for the car, there is no break in the exhaust pipe till the down pipes (yes this car actually has true dual exhaust). But a ton of the forum members just run straight pipes, the car still has 3 CATs and a resonator. The sound is perfect not to loud but still has a nice growl, and also no drone at any RPM/speed combo that I've found.

I was never given a final repair cost on the car, once they found the front end engine cradle and sub frame damage they said the car was unsafe to repair no matter the cost.
