Yellowish bumper on performance white!

Hey, My rear bumper has a different color (yellowish) than the rest of the car which is Performance White. I believe its because of the material that the bumpers are that makes it hard to match the whites exactly plastic and metal. I had the car for 15 months now and its noticeable! I wonder if the other colors are a little different as well?

Will post a pic with a good camera, my phone won't do the job!!

White is the worst I've ever seen for this. But I've also noticed it on a Red Candy SHO I used to have and even on the UA black Mustang I have. Once you see it it's very noticeable as long as you own the car.

Yeah, you can really see it in the evening sunlight. I noticed it a couple months ago on ours. My wife had an 01 white convertible, and she said it was the same way. You'd think Ford could do a little better.

I notice it as well. Im very ocd when it comes to my car too so it really bugs the crap outta me! The materials used on the parts of the car do have influence but the front bumper doesnt have the same yellowish hue to it. Im considering a full '13 rear end conversion on my '12 sixxer though so a repaint will be happening. Im glad others have noticed it, i thought i qas just crazy haha

My rear one is like that too, and my car is only 6 months old.

I was once told that the 'yellowing' comes from a flex agent that's put in the paint shot on flexible body parts. Like I said...just what I heard.

Ditto (to avoid the echo thing that's going on here). I also heard from a paint and body friend that the flex agent that's added to the paint color when spraying flexible parts (so the paint does not crack when you press on them) can cause discoloration in the paint.

If the car is still under warranty, maybe you can get a respray of these pieces, but it may come back, or worse, the car becomes labled (in Carfax) as body repair. Check it out before you make a claim in warranty.

Wife had a BMW get scratched while it was in for service. The service manager said they of course would repair it, but it would show up in a car fax report, as they labeled it as body damage. When we went to return the car (a lease), they tried to have us pay for the "body damage" depreciation. I quickly handed them the paperwork that described their dealership caused the damage. No charge.

Same issue here too on my 2011. It's only the rear bumper area. Front looks good and so does spoiler and side vents which are all plastic. Not saying previous posts are wrong but if that flex agent is used on flexible/plastic pieces, shouldn't all plastic pieces have the yellow tint?

I noticed this about a minute after I saw my car on the lot. Still bothers me, but only noticeable in certain lights.

I had a white 86 trans am that had the same problem from the factory, painted a number of times and always yellowed after a couple of days. I just ordered a performance white '13 and know it's going to be the same.

I believe that the bumpers are not painted with the rest of the car. Assembled after paint. Ford should do a better job matching that up.
