To hold off buying an 2011 5.0 and wait for the 2012? Im sure many of you are worried about engine bugs, but seeing how its still going to be based of the 4.6 block, would you think there is anything to worry about?

Nope. Even if it were not based off the 4.6 or any other existing architecture, I'd be confident because by the time a Ford-built engine gets to the consumers these days it's been through the ringer. Their initial quality has gone way up, and only the Navistar issues have really been a downer lately. Look at the 3.5L launch, nothing but net.

Since the 2010 is based off of the 2005-09, the 5.0 will also fit into the 2005-09 body. There are plenty of current-body Mustangs running around with 5.0 engine stuffed inside as test mules. I wouldn't worry about it. Believe me, the last thing Ford needs to do is have bugs with re-introducing a legendary engine into their premier muscle car. They have no choice but to get it right.

That and the fact a version of the 5.0 will go into the f150 also. They cant afford to screw this engine up and I would bet it has been road hard and put up wet. Im holding out for the DI 5.0 myself and praying the car gains no weight.

There were no significant problems with the 3V 4.6 when introduced in 2005, why should there be any with the 5.0?

I really love my 05 so I'm sticking with it till 2014 and snagging me a 50th anniversary edition, which to me would be the only reason to wait, the 2014 will prolly be the last new car I ever buy, and my 05, my wife wants, which is the only reason she will let my buy that so every one is happy

Unless there is a 2010MY Mach1, I'll be waiting for the 2011MY.

With the exception of Ford's poor designed 2 piece spark plugs, breaking inside the 3V heads.

The only thing I am worried about is the engine options being limited to a 302 CID. They need to offer bigger engines as pencil-in options.

You'll never see those days again unfortunately.
