Wishful Thinking...
And it's BS that Mustangs costing far more than the TT have the same cheap interior with grandma seats that the base V6 has, excuses only get you so far, after looking at a GT500 yesterday covered in cheap plastic with a 30k mark-up I was pretty disgusted..
man justin, too much time looking at magazine pics for you!
that does look good though. ford will never give us an interior like that in the mustang. heck the ford gt interior wasnt that nice

And its BS that TTs that cost more than a fully loaded Mustang GT only have 200 hp. Excuses only get you so far, and after looking at a V6 Mustang with 210 hp and costing around 19K and a Mustang GT with 300hp for less than 30K, and an Audi TT with a wimpy 200hp, I was pretty disgusted.

How does it handle?
Is the car balanced and nimble?
Does it contain a good blend of quality materials and state-of-the-art technology?
All factors buyers who would even consider a TT would be looking at.
The loaded premium interiors in S197s aren't bad...overall. But the plastics all need to be brought into the 21st century. Not just for cosmetic reasons, but practical ones, too. The deep-grained, "soft-touch" plastics have more 'give' in them, and are less prone to simple abrasions, scuffs and scratches than the stuff being used in the Stang. I have made two significant scratches in my Stang already - both where the plastic is cheap and hard; fortunately in places where they aren't likely to be seen...but still.
The upside is that the plastic they are using is EASY to clean. Just get a warm, damp cloth and wipe clean!

+1.

You musta got the one that Moe and Frick put together after gobbling up some cheese and washing it down with some mad dog on thier 15 minute break.
Seriously though, the only bit of plastic I find boring is the console, I would have prefered it have same grainy texture as the dash. As for squeaks and rattles, there are none and the gaps are pretty good, way better than my 02 GT.
I remember all the comments about the S-197's enterior and I kinda dreaded sitting in the car after hearing about how super cheap the interior was. Imagine my surprise when I actually found it to be a pretty good place to be. Now if you would'a said side bolsters, I would'a said hell'ya!
75k Shelby's aren't Ford's fault, and for an extra 17 or 18k (msrp) over the GT you get a hella lotta good stuff, unless anybody thinks that a power/drivetrain & suspension designed to safely handle 600hp for 18k isn't a good deal.

Some have unrealistic expectations of the Mustang. They want a car that is all about being an affordable sporty car with good performance and styling for the money to have some Euro or import interior theme, even though that would go against the entire theme of the car.
Of course there is always room for improvement or fresh design in upcoming models, but just because the S197 is not an Audi TT, Euro Focus RS, Australian Falcon doesn't change the fact that the S197 is a great car in it's own right.
on my 1999 Mustang on the other had. It didn't get scratched anywhere.
Kinda like the new keys ford uses. they get scratched so easy its ridiculous.
from all my experience it has been completly opposite. I had a honda civic that had pretty soft touch everything and it uses to scratch so easy i couldn't stand it.

- The interior design is great
- The ergonomics are great
- The premium kit and the aluminum dash panel is good quality and well done
- But most of the trim plastics, best characterized by the center stack, door panels and trim around the lower foot kick-panels and entry/egress panels is some of the cheapest stuff I've ever seen, especially for use in a car. And it scratches VERY easily. My previous vehicles were far less prone to that.
But, life's about choices, and I knew that would be an issue when I bought the car. However, the Mustang has enough other attributes that one can overlook those minor annoyances. Not dismiss them outright, mind you - like some people here - but overlook them.

I like the Audi TT interior, but if you wanna go upscale, check out the Audi R8's interior, thats that the interior of a higher priced car should look like. But personally, I dont see any problems with the current interior. Im 6'5, 305, and I fit very comfortably in the car, put my seat back all the way, and all the controls are plenty within reach, and most importantly, the gear shift is in the right place.
Well, I now own an '07 S197 GT, and have come to the following conclusions >>
- The interior design is great
- The ergonomics are great
- The premium kit and the aluminum dash panel is good quality and well done
- But most of the trim plastics, best characterized by the center stack, door panels and trim around the lower foot kick-panels and entry/egress panels is some of the cheapest stuff I've ever seen, especially for use in a car.
