Wiper-washer issues

Hello all, my daughter recently purchased a 2010 convertible V-6, automatic transmission car. Initially the wipers would not work most of the time. After some research we cleaned the cowl drain, which was of coarse plugged with pine straw, and replaced the wiper motor with one from Orielly Auto Parts. Everything seemed to work fine other than the hole on the wiper linkage being stripped out. I fashioned some washers and tightened down the nut so the wipers worked correctly and would return to home as they should. About a week later she called me and had to remove the wiper relay to get the washer to quit spraying water. She brought it home a day or 2 later, we re install the relay and everything is perfect. About 2 weeks later the same thing happens again? I did re check the water box at the wiper motor and it is still completely dry. Anyone had a similar experience or know what I should check when it works fine when she brings it home? Thanks
