Wind Buffeting

I searched this topic and didn't find anything, so I thought I would post it.

I was driving my 2012 GT the other day. It was a nice day, and I decided to roll my window down. I got on the highway and when my speed got over 60mph, I noticed a lot of wind buffeting. I thought it might decrease with a little more speed, so I moved up to 70mph. It was worse. And at 80mph, it got so bad it felt like my wheels were out of balance.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. With the windows up, it was fine, but not with the window down. It felt like I was bouncing all over the road.

I seldom had the windows up in my Mustang (because IMO the A/C was functionally useless in the 25 minutes it took me to get home). Never noticed any issues like you're having.

I have noticed it Michael. With the Vert you even get a little "rumping" sound to go along with the buffeting. I can crack the passenger window a bit, and that helps. It's the nature of the beast.

Yes, crack your passenger window a little. That should take care of it.

Are we talking about only one window down? People do that? Am I the only one that needs both windows lowered the same amount?

Haha. Camaro drivers? Good one.

But, yes, I only had the driver's window down. From an aerodynamic point, that does make sense that it would be worse with only one window down. I'll try it again and put both of them down and see what happens. Thanks for all the comments. You guys rock.

+1 - This solves the buffeting issue.

This has been present in many cars I've owned, so it's not just a Mustang thing.

Hey Michael Broadway,

If you feel this is not normal, I recommend you bring it in to your dealer and have it checked out. Your service manager is in the best position to look into this for you and can check into any warranty, assistance, recalls, or customer satisfaction programs that may apply to your vehicle.

You can schedule an appointment online here.

Sometimes I wish there was a setting to sync the window open amount, when it's kind of cold out and I have the windows only half down, I always have to eyeball to try and make sure they are down the same amount, lol.
