Notice every one of my posts has the "there are only 10 types...." sentence, but it'd under a black line and doesn't show up in any quotes? Notice has yours is NOT under a black line and shows up in ALL the quotes?

 

I don't see any black lines, I'm on the iPhone app for this site and that is my sig. In options for this app "turn on" sig on posts

I'm talking about you and everyone else that has the sig thing or what ever it is on your phone turned on that adds that into every post you make. The example I gave above is what comes up on several people's posts.

No, that doesn't show up in the post. The phone thing shows up as part of the post you typed and is quoted every time someone responds.

The point was, the 5.4 is just as capable using older hardware and naturally aspirated and more pointedly the Coyote and the rest of Ford's 4v engines aren't that far apart, the Coyote does have one real advantage over the 4.6 4v and 5.4 4v with its larger bore, thats about it when your talking maximum effort engines.

The rest were irrelavent, I wasn't interested in what the Boss as a car can do, only your points on the engine. The jist of your post comments seemed to be that the Coyote has technology that couldn't possibly be employed by the 5.4. TiVCT aside, the rest are doable on the current architecture. The squirters only require an oil gallery to feed from, sodium filled valves are just a component change away, CNC'd heads are just an 8 axis milling machine away.

 

You're reading too much into my posts. Where did I say that the Mustang got 15% DT losses? Nowhere. All I said was that AT 15% DT losses, that is what the power would be. Even 12% puts the power at 576, extremely respectable for an NA 302.


From the factory it is. Although with the rumors going around now, I wouldn't be surprised to see that tech show up in a couple years with the 5.8L.


It may be "ricer logic", but there is something to be said for the lower displacement motor matching the power of the larger motor. The Coyote just flows so god damned well. The intake ports are almost completely straight (which is why the engine looks a hell of a lot larger than a 5.0).


The rest of the points were completely relevant. This is a Boss 302 vs GT500 thread. There is a lot more to both cars than just the engine. And if I had to choose a car to turn with, it would be the Boss 302, and Ford apparently agrees with me. Again, I am not knocking the potency of the 5.4, it is extremely formidable and a great engine. There is no way I could sit here and say the GT500 was a bad car by any stretch of the means without lying through my teeth. But the original thread title is "Why Boss instead of GT-500". Everything I said is why. And yes, I realize that the 5.4 could have most of the fancy things from the 5.0 added to it. You can also get a forged short block 5.4 stroker that will work with the Coyote heads. But for the people that aren't going to mod their cars, the Boss 302 is hands down the better road course car.
