I have talked with two of the higher end window tint places around here. They both Carry llumar tint.one will only do the ATR tint. for $125.00 Beleve it or not he does the Ferrari store!!! The other is a big Place and they Do Llumar all grades and ceramic. They also have the Formula Llumars best Ceramic.
Price is Formula Pinnacle Ceramic $299.00 Lifetime guarantee replaced free forever. Llumar CTX ceramic $220 Cheaper ATR for $129.00 I am leaning for the CTX?

I am learning allot from this thread. Thank you all.

This my 3rd black Mustang and the CTX seems to make a difference when it sits in the sun. The 07 and 11 both had the regular Llumar tint.

I can tell you that I was pleased enough with CTX that I had my little Ranger done with a few months after the Mustang. They are going to warranty my work truck that has 10 yo 3m ColorStable on that is bubbling off. I'm going to pay them a little extra to put CTX on it too.

If you research and look at tests and spec sheets, you'll see that the SunTek Carbon is almost as good as the llumar ceramic. It's far better than llumar carbon.

Don't base your decisions on the type of cars they do. A lot of the times the dealers will go to whatever shop will do it the cheapest. The closest one to my house would never be allowed to touch my car... I've seen some of the crap they do when I drive by. Bunch of immature kids

Rando you are so Right. I found that the one who does the exotic's is out of his truck. Cuts the tint the old fasion way by using the window to cut it on.

The one that is the farthest and more expensive has a machine to cut it out so it looks good.

I am now having a hard time picking what film. I love the Formula One Pinical but it is about $100 more for it.

Hey, go for the one you think is best. 2 or 3 years down the road the $100 won't matter. How often do you get your windows tinted anyway?

It's on my list of things to do to my car as well. Lots of good info in this thread. I vote to make it a sticky!

Machine doesn't always equal better. You make it sound like it is. But an experience tinter usually cuts by hand. Shops typically use machine due to the lack of tinter exp and or the need to speed up the install process. Either way, those are the places I avoid. I don't want someone rushing the job. And I don't want some revolving door of tinters touching my car.

You bring up a great point. I had a guy for 20 years do all of my cars and the family and friends. He did everything by hand. It was the best tinting I have ever seen.

Then he did not do tint any longer. I had to find some one else. I found a professional place that only does tint on cars and buildings. They use a cutter. it looks so much better than tint cut on the car. On the side of the fixed windows and the window frames.

I am narrowing it down to the ones that are certified by the manufactures of the tint. The Ferrari guy is not certified on any tint. I have to rule him out.

I've had hand cut stuff be mediocre. But every time I've had machine cut it's been by some volume based tint place with tint guys that are always "the best" yet never stick around for more than a month.

The tint cut lines look good obviously, but the tint can be misaligned and/or worse improperly adhered and/or have dirt and bubbles.

Now no tinter I believe will get EVERY piece of dust out. But they can try. Some don't. Some also don't care about your car and get it mucked with water and crap. Some use chemicals that can ruin interior, and good luck having them take ownership of it.

The guy I used for my mustang works on very high end cars. But is also certified by llumar, solar guard, suntek, and 3m. He literally used a new razor for EACH cut. It couldn't be more perfect. I'm fortunate to have found him.

I don't get the machine cut hate. Obviously it'll look bad if a crap shop does it, but I've had three cars done with machine cut and it all looks fantastic. Would hand cut look better? MAYBE, if the person cutting it is REALLY good at what they do...and let's face it, there aren't that many folks around that can do it that well. If you have one near you then great.

I'll stick with my guy that does machine cut. It all lines up perfectly and looks fantastic (and probably keeps prices down).

No hate. Nothing stopping a great tinter from buying a machine. Just saying that "usually" they are used in certain environments by certain tint companies. And the guys that are confident with their cutting skills don't waste the money.

I used Llumar 35% all the way around. I don't see too well at night and need to be able to see out.

I am learning a lot on this thread. I found 2 more Llumar dealers and are getting quotes tomorrow. They are further than I would like but will get the price. I wish I had more options but all the tint places around here use Llumar tint or Formula one.

This guy is on Nebraska (hwy41) and Fletcher. Not far from there. The same shop did my clear bra too. They are constantly doing lambos and bentleys and ferraris etc. It's a nice clean place too, not a hole in the wall. It's called Auto Paint Guard. Ryan is the owner and clear bra guy. Chris does the tint.

All of these things attracted them to me. The quality of the work is why I now recommend them to everyone. He also carries every brand of tint and clear bra film. So you will be able to get what ever suits your needs.
