White smoke ???? :(

So I recently had BBk long tube headers, BBk off road x-pipe, and JLT carbon CAI installed including a custom dyno tune but now as it sits at idle I'm getting white smoke coming out the exhuast. It's not alot but it's noticeable. It gets thicker while I give it gas. The mechanic says its condensation, is that accurate? Anyone have this setup and notices the white "smoke" ????

You sure it's not steam (or condensation, as your mechanic states?). This would be pretty normal depending on ambient temperature.

Check the end of the exhaust pipe for water droplets.......there won't be much, but it should confirm if it's steam.

white smoke usually means burning oil.

Whats the temp where you are? Is the smoke there when the car is fully warmed up? How is the engine oil level? Did the headers have any coating that could be burning off?

I noticed the smoke on initial start and there was water droplets, also it's about 81 on Long Island.

Probably nothing much to worry about if it's just on start with new headers just put on and a coulpe other exhaust parts. See if it does it as the engine gets up to normal operating temp

Black smoke, running to rich

Blue tint smoke is burning oil

White is condensation or blown head gasket. If the exhaust smells sweet its the head gasket.

Bring the engine up to operating temp then go hammer on it to get the exhaust nice and hot.

New exhaust components will have trace amounts of oil from the manufacturing process, so get the exhaust hot and burn it off.

Who hasn't seen white condensation when first starting in cool weather in all cars?? As for 80* temps, I believe humidity also plays a factor until the exhaust system is up to temp.

Yeah, white isn't oil. You blow an engine, the smoke is light bluish, not white. White means water. Run it up to operating temps, park it and check the exhaust at idle. Worst case, have someone follow you for 5 minutes to check it out. Check your oil.

I believe it has to do also with having no cats. Every vehicle I've removed the cats from have always shown more condensation afterwards

Yeah that's probably what it is. Today though it stalled twice during idle and one at about 10MPH, any idea what may be causing that? I think maybe the tune needs to be tweaked

Stalling would seem to be an indication of something being not right. Throw any codes when it stalled?

No lights or anything popped up. It seems like it cannot hold rpm at idle. My mechanic says it may be the tune needs to be tweaked

Yea the inability to idle is concerning. Maybe they forgot to plug in a sensor. Or plugged the wrong o2 sensors in. I'm sure it's something wicked dumb.

Yeah I'm not in full panic mode yet but I was having doubts about the shop while they had my vehicle, now I'm just regretting that I didn't run in there and take my car away and go somewhere else. It would had been cheaper and less headaches

Search "jlt CAI filter placement". There is a thread on here about it and on other forums also.
Your CAI filter may be pushed into the air inlet tube too far, it is sensitive to the placement and might be causing the stalling.
Try that first if your filter isn't quite placed where jlt says it should be, if stalling continues then a tune revision might be needed.
On the white smoke, it may be the production oils burning off like others stated or condensation, it's been fairly humid here on the east coast this week.

Thanks for the great advice, I had no idea. I hope the shop I brought it too will fix it with no issues. I'm a little nervous about there reliability already and this is only making it worse

I'm sure all will be well. You sure it's not just condensation?
