What's a good price for a 2012 V6 Vert leftover?

Looking at 2011+ V6 Convertibles for my Dad, he really wanted a used one to keep the price down but was frustrated that a V6 Convertible with a stick shift was almost impossible to find.

I found a local dealer with a few cars on the lot that seem pretty rare: V6 Premium Convertibles with Manual transmissions. They are leftovers from 2012, I'm assuming this combination is a tough sell.

The MSRP is $33,100, Invoice is $30,560, there's a $3k ford rebate bringing the Invoice - Rebate to $27,555.

Anyone had any experience buying a car that's been sitting around for this long? Think we could get it for ~$25k? Any other tips on negotiating a long-time lot lurker would be appreciated.

Easily get one for under 25 k. Your problem will be if the car you want is in stock. Hit up eBay and Craigslist. Consider a low mileage used one as well.

Thanks.. the car is listed on the website as in stock, and there's 2-3 of them actually with almost identical specs.

Been checking Craigslist/autotrader but I found basically zero manual V6 convertibles in 300 miles...

Go get it before it's gone! I'd say $25k out the door is a good starting point. I don't see them coming down any less than that, even if it's been sitting...

Tell them $25k is final offer, being winter and stick convertible it isn't a popular combo. Most verts seem to be auto and are wanted that way, they'll do $25k.

You should be able to get a leftover new 2012 for $1,000 to $1,500 below the invoice total, and you get the rebates.

I will leave it to knowing folks like Five Oh Brian to advise you on a good purchase price, but will offer my two cents on what a fabulous car a V-6 convertible is with a manual trannny! I had to order mine (2012 Premium V-6 Race Red) as everything on the lots were autos but I suffered through the wait and it was well worth it. Couldn't care less about resale as I hope to keep it. Dropped in a MGW shifter, plus a CAI kit and a Bama tune. The "fun factor" is so over the top it can't be described.

Most folks just wink and nod and they think what a cool little cruiser - it's a real sleeper and when you press the Go pedal it is a hoot. So much fun I had the rear gears changed out to 3.73 to replace the anemic stock 2.73.

Tell Dad to go for it and if further pep-talk is need contact me!

If you can wait a couple weeks to buy, order some brochures from the Ford website. Order a bunch of them for different cars and use others in the household so you can get the max for each person. As long as the address is the same as the person buying the car, you can use the coupon. At least 1 or 2 will have the $750 private cash coupon in it.

I don't see how you're gonna get that car for 25k, though. The holdback is $993, so at invoice, it would be $30560 - $3000 rebate - $750 private cash = $26810. Anything cheaper will be eating into their holdback, and I just can't see them giving back all their holdback plus another grand almost to get it to 25k. I think I'd be comfortable at around $26000-$26200 or so.

Maybe there are some hidden factory to dealer incentives, though. Without working for a dealer, it's pretty hard to be sure. Good luck with the purchase.
