What Are These For?

Just installed the GT500 Axlebacks. They came with these rubber things over the small threaded studs on each. These could be installed again once the mufflers are on the car. I would be worried they would melt. And I can think of absolutely no valid purpose. So before I throw these in the Trash somebody tell me what they are for?

I've never seen anything like this for axlebacks. Maybe for shipping protection? Just a guess

Mine came with these too. I scratched my head for a sec and threw them out.

I think they were on my GT500 quads too...discarded them. I thought they were handles used in the factory or something like that.

Those are alignment tools for the mufflers. On the muffler as well as the OTA pipe, there is a little pin that these slip over to aid in the install.

Ding Ding Ding... We have a winner. I knew they would go over both studs. But for the life of me couldn't figure out their purpose once installed. Thanks!

Interesting!

Mine are the 2010ish GT500 axle backs and they have a little metal tag on the end of a thin cable that appeared to serve no purpose so I just left them there. I wonder if those serve a similar function.

They are there for ease of install on the factory line. Don't leave them on, obviously.
