What size/brand drag radials should I get for my 5.0 stock 18's?

I just installed Full Stainless Works Exhaust and Steeda CAI and tune and needed more traction.

I dont know what size drag radials I should get for my stock 18's (back only).

2012 Mustang 5.0

Thanks!

Wait, you mean you don't want drag radials for the front?

265/40/18 Nitto NT05R or Mickey Thompson drag radials, for the back...

Are the NT05R's better then the 555's?

Will ones in the front help much?

I was playing about the fronts.

NT05R's are stickier than the 555R's, plus I don't think they offer a 555R in the appropriate size.

As far as I know, BFG doesn't offer a suitable size tire for the stock 18" rim size that the OP wants to use.

And as far as Nitto's go, the NT05R's are just as sticky as the BFG's or M/T's. The old Nitto 555R's aren't as sticky but I had great luck with them on my '99 Lightning, 4900 pound truck would pull 1.6 to 1.7 60 foot times with them.

bfg makes a 275 for an 18 inch wheel in there drag radial. I just really had no luck with the newer nittos with my 95 that was running low 11's. they were 315's though lol. I switched to bfgs a while back and just felt they were far superior.

Although I don't have any track feedback yet, but my 285/40/18 NT05R's hook up extremely well on the street and are very hard to break loose.

Those are both too wide for a stock 8" wide wheel.

Actually the 265's are marginal for a 8" wheel, but they are a good height at 26.5".

Mickey Thompson part # 3782R

Nitto doesn't list the 265's any more, guess they dropped them.

Summit and Jegs and lots of other places sell the M/T's.

Stock 2010+ 18's are 8" wide.

It doesn't say anything about the size on their site. Is there any way you can just give me a link to what I should buy?

Thanks I appreciate it!

I've been successfully running BFG 275/40/17 D/R's on an 8" wide rim on my last 3 Mustangs. 275 may be a little wider than ideal on an 8" wheel for cornering, but in a straight line at the drag strip it works incredibly well. The BFG's dead hook like crazy with a good warm up. Here's my '07 launching drama-free on BFG's and pulling a high 11 in the 1/4 mile against a 500+ hp Mercedes AMG....

Thanks,

I need drag radials I can drive on too. I don't want to have to swap them every time I have to race.

WHATS YOUR 60' TIME?
I haven't heard many good things about the BFG's....have you tried them against any other tires? I'd like to go BFG's but bite is really an issue for me.
