What happened to all the replacement parts/after market parts?

So I owned a 2011 GT back in 2014. I ended up selling it (regretfully) in 2017. During the time I had it there were a large selection of oem replacement parts (used and new) and tons of aftermarket stuff for it, for a decent price mind you.

I finally got back into a Mustang this past month with a 2014 GT/CS and wow I'm shocked at how barren everything seems to be now. The few replacement parts are much more expensive and the aftermarket selection has dropped considerably.

How long has it been this way? Is this a lingering effect from covid or because of the S550s introduction or what? Of course I get inflation for the rising prices but I'm just floored at everything now. What do you guys do for replacement parts or aftermarket parts?

I haven't needed many parts for my '14 but I never had an issue with my 2007 GT/CS that I owned for many years. My local Ford dealer always seemed to have what I needed and when I needed other repairs, my mechanic had no issues finding good parts.
Is there something specific you have had trouble getting? I'm not talking more expensive as EVERYTHING costs much more today. Thank Covid, the supply issues, and of course the extremely high diesel prices for transporting those supplies.

Knowing that your 2014 is just nine years old, all OEM parts are still in production thru Ford... If you're having a difficult time in locating OEM replacement parts? chances are it's more than likely due from the parts shortage along with shipment delays brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic... Same also applies towards aftermarket parts as well...

In the meantime, hope you find the info provided as useful and welcome aboard!

Right, I figured as much. Just an example... I had a satin silver shifter **** for my 11 that had the pony tri bar logo on the sides that American Muscle used to sell. They also had several other shifters with logos or designs on the sides, lots to choose from. Now there's only plain ***** without any logos or designs on the side, but there are plenty like that for the S550s. The rear decklid, there used to be a lot more options for it aftermarket new, but now only a few. I was able to buy one on ebay for $100 that was nearly brand new and had several to choose from back then, now there's only a couple and they're all scratched up for $300+. No CS rear faux gas cap replacement anywhere that I can find, no 14' CS blacked out front emblems. Very limited selection of used CS seats that are $1k+ in pretty bad shape, can't find them new anywhere.

Maybe I'm not searching well enough but I've googled my butt off, just can't find this stuff.

As the Model year gets older the aftermarket parts are selling less since it is mainly enthusiast that buy them. Most enthusiast have moved up to the next best thing out there and parts suppliers do not make money on parts that do not sell so they quit making them.

GTCSDIB It is hard to believe our 2014 rides are 9 years old already so those items you mentioned will become scarce for sure .
I'm glad you mentioned American Muscle.because ever since I bought my axle back exhaust from them, they keep sending me catalogs. These last 3 are 'early Spring', 'Spring', and now 'late Spring'. The postage is going to drive them to bankruptcy So much to choose from. I feel like I could buy thousands of dollars of mods but I'm controlling myself.

Not necessarily! I notice quite a few newcomers joining up who have bought the older 2005-14 S197 models along with others on YouTube... As long as folks continue buying the older S197's as an alternative to the current S550 models, there will continue to be demand for aftermarket parts...

I want to know what happened to all the replacement parts/after market parts and for that I am looking for it online and I am glad I found your post where I found my answer. Now, I know that the availability and selection of replacement parts and aftermarket accessories can fluctuate over time for various reasons. I have noticed this for a few years now. Many of the vendors/manufacturers seem to slowly provide less and less of the quality items for our cars. I don't think Covid played a big roll in this, Just seems that the market (mighty dollar) for modifications must have dried up. I see some of the mods I was interested in, but decided to wait on, are no longer available. For example I know that Roush has moved on to the S550 (and soon to the S650) and there are very few of their customization parts for the S197s still available. They seem to now to be dropping out of the Supercharger market for the S197 Coyote cars, their bread and butter performance add-on... The Phase 1 SuperChargers are no longer available only Phase 2 & 3. But I was really only considering a Whipple any way.

I wonder if this market will come back, I see there are still items out there for the pre-Coyote years of the S197. Makes me wonder why the 2011-2014 models are being dropped. But the demand must not be there.

They want everyone to buy new since we are a throw away society. Unfortunately we aren't all made of money like they think we are!
