What happened to the 6 disc cd player?!

I cant afford to go for the electronics package (car im ordering is a GT/CS Vert wih every option BUT electronics) to get the hard drive----ive been quite happy with the previous 6 disc cd changer that ford has provided in their vehicles for the past decade---

WHY DO THIS FORD?!

How can one go back to a single disc player? gonna be a real pain in the ***

Yeh, I feel the same way. Have a 6 CD player in my 07 GT500 and my new 2011 GT500 is enroute with a single CD player. I did not order the electronics package so packaging room should'nt have been a problem. I'm going to wait and see what a PITA the single CD is and if so, I'll look into swaping a 6 CD radio out of an earlier model. Does the 2010 GT500 have the 6 CD?

Bite the bullet, and go USB.

Flash drives that play MP3s are handier, and the new iPods are fantastic.

i just dont like how the ipods dont have a "fixed" audio option for external devices-------

looks like im gonna have to either bite the bullet and order the electronics package

OR

I dont know if this is possible, BUT have my dealer put the older head units in that contain the 6cd player---might be a problem, bc i am ordering the shaker 1000

Ditto.

There's going to be an entire generation who say, "What's a CD?" very shortly just as many of us ask, "What's a cassette?" Or, "What's an 8-track?" Heck, I'm still trying to figure out how to get my vinyl cylinders to play in the new Mustang. . . (Kidding... not that old.)

You're thinking of iPods that input to a car stereo through the AUX jack.

The Shaker has a USB connector that you hook up to with the cable that comes with the iPod. Perfect volume control, able to scan Playlists, etc. from the iPod, and it recharges the iPod at the same time.

Don't even need the iPod. Rip all your CD's to a $20 flash drive and plug it into the USB port. Now you've got a 50 CD voice activated CD changer via Sync.

The aftermarket must be having fits over Ford's system.

Get yourself a USB device (flash drive or iPod with cable) loaded with music MP3s, and bring it to a Ford dealer ASAP for a demonstration.

I use an IPOD Classic 160 with an aftermarket stereo in my truck and have not had a problem with distortion. All of my MP3's are ripped at 320 so that might have something to do with it.

The iPod does offer line out through the docking connector. The headphone jack is speaker level. Basically you need to get a line-out adapter if you want line-level outputs.

Or just plug it into the USB port like everybody else says.

Ford could never build one that lasted longer than a month anyway before it started eating CD's. You're better off.

Exactly right. Besides Ford's six disc changers can be a little glitchy anyway.

No, it's going to be better than you ever thought it could. Sync + USB flash drive is the way to go. I bought a 16 GB stick, ripped all of my CDs to mp3 and tagged them (still have 6GB left). Now I can pull up anything I want with a voice command. I've had my Flex for over a year and I have never had a cd in the cd player.

You'll never look back.

You know I'm actually going to miss the 6 CD changer. Although I had Sirius and listened to it pretty much all the time, it was kinda nice every now and then to listen to one of my favorite albums in full high fidelity. Nothing like Rush blasting through the speakers on an 8 hour dive to San Antonio.
