What did you trade/sell to get your Mustang?

Traded in a 2004 330Cic that was a nice car but cost way too much to maintain:
And no Black Fire, you're not the only F-body fan around here. I suspect we both got our screen names from our 'birds. I sold this 2000 T/A about six months before getting the Mustang:
Wanted a convertible instead of t-tops, bought the Bimmer, spent $490 just to replace a thermostat and didn't feel right wearing jeans while driving it so I factory ordered the Mustang in order to get exactly the options I wanted.

Not so much maintenance... oil changes and such were reasonable... but repairs were ridiculous. I could replace the thermostat on the T/A in my driveway for less than $50 (even dealer installed would be only about $120) so having to pay $490 for the dealer to do it on the BMW seems somewhat overpriced.

Great handling car. It was heavy but felt light and nimble. It had no torque down low, but it's engine was so grating up high in the rpm, that you didn't really want to get it up there. Power was just ok. I test drove the 5oh and it was game set match.

Audi's are the same as BMW's in the respect of pricy mech fees. I have owned BMW Z3 and then my Audi TT. Both cars had decent features but over all the new Mustang trumped them both with fit, finish and maintenance.

Wow that would have been very hard for me to part with to get a newer Mustang. To bad you could not have kept it and bought a new one. I know easily said by someone not holding the checkbook, but what a beautiful car!!

The German engineering is fantastic, it was a great car, and again, the easiest car I have had to work on, but I had to work on it way too much. At 100k a bunch of stuff broke, and then it broke again around 150k. Most of it was easy to fix but took a day or two but having something break every month was tiresome despite the fact it was easy to fix. Good thing I had a truck with a 16' trailer to take it home every time it broke down.
When I was considering a new car I thought about a 335 but given my experience with the BMW and the value for performance of the 5.0 I chose to put $25k in my pocket and go with the Mustang. I have a comparable car to a 335 for about 25k less as I am optioned to the hilt.

wow - a lot of great cars traded in.
off-topic - BMW is best as long as you have the service warranty, my dad taught me that. I'm trying to convince my wife to lease one, and trade up every 3 or 4 years... we'll see... she's a big BMW fan.
A few of you had cars I was considering before I got my GT and I'm glad I got the GT and not the cars you traded in, this thread confirms (what I already knew) - Mustang was the choice for me, and the right choice overall...
