Nice day out today, so I decided to look over my new to me 2014 Mustang over.
While looking in the trunk, I noticed this loose connector on the passenger side by the spare, attached to the rear of the trunk.

Any idea what option this is for?

I believe it's GT500 related. Either the harness for the second fuel pump or the diff cooler...

 

My '13 GT has this plugged in there....it's the rear parking assist module. CR3T-15K866-AB lists as a 2012 part number, but I assume mine is an early 13 since I bought it in the first week of July in 2012.

 

Ah! That makes sense. I think there's another unused connector down there somewhere though, for the GT500 fuel pump and/or diff cooler.

 

Nope. The diff coller connector is above the axle on the outside of the car, and the second FPDM connector is only on the GT500 harness. The GT500 harness is completely different.

The only other connector that might be there for all cars is the Shaker 1000 Amp connector.

Yeah.., don't ask ... I hate harnesses... I need to get an Ecostang surcharge from Stephen

My harness has the Shaker 1000 connector in the trunk (unused). I tied up the differential cooler pump and temp plug to the rest of the harness on top of the axle. Once I install the diff cooler from Stephen it will actually be used.
Ford is using the same harness for multiple versions of the car and some connectors will just hang there.
E.G the GT500 (13-14) only has 2 harnesses. A base and the rest. And if you don't have the track pack you end up with the unused connectors.

So maybe this has been covered before... But if you do not have the trunk sub can you just buy it from Ford and it is a direct plug in?

 

If you have the connector, then yes. If not then no.

Where would you find it?

 

On the passenger side in the trunk. Coming out right below the tail light and typically going behind the right side cover (where the BCM is). This is how it looks.
