well thats not good lol

i managed to drive the car another 15 miles and died on the side of the freeway next to a chevron. i was well prepared tho as i had a can with fuel in the back. i actually wanted to see how far i can go after it says i got 0 to E i managed to go another 15 miles and i think light comes on around 40 miles to E , so i got around 55 miles after light came on.

this was good to know in case i ever have to max it out in for some odd reason

Wouldn't that be pretty bad on the injectors/engine? You don't want all that sludge from the bottom of the tank circling through your system.

Good test, I would like to know how far I can go as well. I'm too chicken to try something like this.

I've always big a big fan of the 'bottom of the tank sludge' statement, especially since the fuel pickup is ALWAYS pulling the fuel from the bottom of the tank. Always has, always will.

Now, if you happen to have some crap in the tank that floats, that's when you'll find it.

people do not do this!! modern cars fuel pumps are in the gas tank and they are cooled with the fuel in the gas tank. Nothing like burnign up a fuel pump.

Also the pump works harder when you have less then 1/4 of a tank. Best to keep the take above 1/2 when possible

im sure it isnt working hard. Its simply not getting the cooling it needs which means its over heating.

Silly since the pump is on the bottom of the tank and is always sucking in the "sludge"...
