Wanting to swap in leather seats (recovering)
Hey Guys. Wanted to see if anyone on the board has every swapped in new seat covers (NOT aftermarket) but OEM. I recently cut the clothe on my rear seat (Screw driver in back pocket) and I'm severely pissed at my self and also that it happened. I found on ebay factory leather seat covers, but am worried about the air bags in the front seats.

I'm really handy so it's not a matter of having the knowledge or tools. In the past I recovered the seats in my dad's 52 mercury. My concern is that of the air bags. I know enough to disconnect the positive and negative battery cables, but don't want to disrupt the sensors and such of the air bags. Any thoughts or ideas gratefully appreciated. Thanks Carl

Yes I have a vert. I just looked on fordparts.com (great web site) and the lower rear seat cover is $400. I may do the rear seat myself. Up by my parents there is a guy who does custom car interiors. Worse case I bring him the front two seats and have him do them. Probably charge like $100 but at least they will look good.

To have him put the covers on for me. I provide the covers he installs them
I know the guy pretty well. Long story short I put Volvo 850r seats (they are suede) in my modified 1989 740. I went to see if he could recover the door inserts for me in suede. He did all 4 doors (25" x 5" area) for me for 50 bucks.

And also check ebay. I just got a set of Katzkins leathers in Dark Charcoal, brand new, for 200 plus shipping, a killer deal. I should be able to sell my stock parchment leather for that and make my money back. Going with Dark Charcoal for a kind of black and tan/two tone interior look.
Already watched the video and I know I can install them myself, and I don't have side airbags to worry about.

Thanks guys for the info. Went and bought a blanket to cover the back seat for now. I think I'm going to get the ones off of ebay, they are cheaper.

I have a thread going on interior.. I'm wanting to swap in red seats.. There is a link on there to a store on eBay that does seats that look OEM for a fraction of the price. They seem like a good company.. If I wasn't on my iPhone I would copy the link to it.
