VIN# to window sticker time ?'s

I received my VIN# on Friday April 30th. 1) When can I expect to be able to find my window sticker on-line? I have a build date of the week of May 17th.
2) Will the window sticker tell you the actual date of production?
3) What is the average time from production to delivery?

1) About a week before the scheduled production date (5/10).

2) The window sticker will show the scheduled date of production. There are several threads on how to find this.

3) This would depend on when it ships. If you find a way to get an answer to this, please let us all know.

That's a best guess. I have a scheduled date of 5/10 last I talked to my dealer & Ford CS, but still no window sticker.

The window sticker shows the scheduled date for start of production. Ive heard that called the Blend Date but Im not sure thats correct. The actual build date is usually a day or two later when its finished. Usually the Sticker is available 4-7 days before start of production.

Initial ETA is usually 14 days after start of production. That would put you on 5/31 or Memorial Day. Im guessing that would mean they would bump it to 6/01 ETA. To show how little initial ETA means though I have had 5/10, 5/08, 5/04 and 5/07 in that order in the last 9 days.

Where do you go to get the window sticker print-out?

Mine was built yesterday, (5-6), would just like to see the sticker.

Thanks!

On the top, right next to the blend number, you'll see a number of the form 12010XXXX. That is the day and month your car will be built. So 120100505 would be 2010/05/05, or May 5th.

The blend number is also a general order of production. I'm 1946 and mine was built two days ago. They do about 300 a day I think right now. Someone might have better numbers on their current output.

I called Ford today and got my VIN and my build date (week of 5/24). I've been waiting for 5 weeks, but it does happen!

Padawan... your patience will be rewarded with a really good deal. In the mean time, the rest of us will be driving our Mustangs that we paid a few hundred more for at other dealers.

(Sorry, couldn't resist... I feel your pain.)

How do you get a scheduled build date if you don't yet have the window sticker?

I've had my VIN for over a week now and there is no window sticker for it yet. Fine by me, but I was curious to get some additional information. I tried the Ford 800 number, and the only info they could give me was that it had an ETA of May 29th. I'm guessing the ETA is waay off. Shipping will probably take at least 2 weeks (and 2 weeks I think is a very optimistic estimate). To make it by May 29th, they would have to be building it this week. Not likely.

If they were building it this week you'd already have your window sticker. My "in transit" time right now is 11 days. I've heard between 5/15 and 5/17 right now for my delivery. Mine was built on 5/4.

Carefully check the URL you're using for the window sticker. For whatever reason, one I had wasn't working (tried it with known working VINs) and then I tried again and there mine was. :-)

I'm in the same boat as Skotty, got my VIN a week and a half ago and have an ETA (which I didn't get until Friday) of 5/26, but no sticker, neither on edited known working VIN URLs, or that other page. They haven't even told me a build date yet either.

Another thing you might check is the VIN itself. Mine was WRONG the first time I got it. The system doesn't tell you it's wrong. Same message no matter what the error is: Either it has the VIN or it doesn't.

1. Check for 17 digits
2. Check that the first 3 are 1ZV
3. 4th digit is B
4. The next 3 are the model (P8x)
5. 8th digit is engine number (M, F, or S)
6. 9th digit is a check digit (0-9 or X)
7. 10th and 11th digits are B5.
8. Check that the last 6 (12-17) are numeric

Yeah, I already verified all that. Even double checked with Ford's VIN lookup utility.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

Thought I'd link it, it's helpful to double check.

All of it checks out for me.

What's the build date (on the top)? 5/18/2010? (Should look like 120100518).

Huh, that weirdness sounds similar to my own, and your ETA is just 4 days before mine (They tell me 5/26). At least that gives me a bit of an expected time frame. I just hope I get mine before Memorial Day weekend. It'd be sweet to blast through the mountains in a shiny new 2011 GT and watch the heads turn.
