Video Interview w/ 2010 Designer

Didn't see this one posted on Topnotch's list- a good 8 minutes with the Interior Designer Robert Gelardi but he also talks about the exterior design too.

You have a good eye for design Shawn.

You know the pictures of the car are all at the mercy of the person who shot them. I think too many people are focusing on this car w/o seeing it in person. I think all the haters are going to be waiters- waiting for their 2010 because they failed to see how great it was.

Ok, flame me now.

Now really, I think this car really comes together in person- very well thought out. The Mk1 2005-09 S197 owners may feel dissed, but the MkII 2010+ S197 is a great design.

Thanks Gnat, I Really Appreciate that Compliment.

What you are saying about the pictures is very true, because when I'm looking over the pictures I see all the different angles and design elements from my point of view as a designer. I don't just see it as a Whole.

When I'm sitting looking at a blank sheet of paper and I start to design, I literally can see the design coming to life on the paper in my mind, before I set pencil to paper and really start drawing it. As I'm drawing it I will pick the paper up and stare down it from different angles, like looking down the barrel of a gun, and see it forming 3 dimensional shapes, even though it's really just a bunch of pencil marks on a sheet of paper.

I've had people watch me while I'm drawing and they ask me why I keep looking at it like that and I tell them that's how I keep a good perspective on how the Car looks as a Whole. It's not something I learned, it is a Talent I was Gifted with, as I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil, pen crayon or marker.

I Love Good Design, and It's Hard to Find. So when i find something I think is a Good Design I become Very Passionate About it. That's why I'm So Passionate about the 2010 Mustang, Just as I was Very Passionate About the 05's when I saw them for the first time.

Good Designs can Be Made Better, Great Designs Normally Can't. In My Book the 05-09 Mustang was a Great Design, Ford just got Lucky they have a Great Design Team and they Made the 2010 Even Better.

He also says that they looked for ways to play with light and shadow on every surface of the car, which gives it visual interest.

Even Stevens last comments have been removed. His actions have resulted in him being banned. Now perhaps the 2010 forum can get back on track.

I think I'm going to be a "waiter", but not because I don't like the 2010, it's because I love my '06 so much and with the economic conditions being so poor, I don't want to make such a big investment right now then get laid off at work or something. Plus I always seem to wait 'till the second year of a new design anyway. I got my F150 in '98 (new design in '97) and my S197 in 2006.
I would have bought a '05 Mustang in the fall of '04 though, but the startup I worked for at the time folded and I was out of a job.

Yeah, it seems to me they finished the original S197 design which is great already, and tried to refine and add cohesive design touches and themes to make it better.

Did anyone else notice the shaker scoop on the car they were looking at?

Yeah Jay, we all did and the fact that it's leaning quite a bit. There's lots of stress on that right motor mount.
