Thumbs up Video: 2011 5.0 Automatic goes into 11 secs on street tires!

Pretty insane! No supercharger. No juice. Just a 11.xx sec daily driver with an automatic. How awesome is this new 5.0?!?!

Mods at time of run:

- C&L Cold Air Intake System
- Evolution Performance, Inc. True Custom 93 Octane Tune
- American Racing 1 7/8 Longtube Headers with 3" Collector and Catted X-Pipe
- Magnaflow Competition Series 3" Catback Exhaust System
- Ford Racing 4.10 Gears
- Steeda Ultralite Lowering Springs
- Evolution Performance, Inc. Adjustable Panhard Bar

those are some really nice times for the auto. those low 12 high 11 runs were on M/T drag radials though?

To have 4.1 gears behind that gearbox is insane, as first gear is 4.17. It's very unusable on the street, and luckily both 5th and 6th gears are overdriven, but it's still quite taxing at highway speeds. The factory diff is ideal, and would have achieved the same result imo.

Not to mention, wouldnt the lowering springs hurt weight transfer making it have less traction and a slower time?

impressive, the last few in particular. Would love to hear evolutions thoughts on their launch technique with the auto.

Street driving aside, there is no way the exact same car with 3.15 gears is going to "achieve the same result". The 4.10s put the car through the traps at very close to optimum RPM in 4th gear, while giving it much more torque multiplication on the line - which it can take advantage of with the DRs that the driver was using.

On hard compount street tires....different story due to traction limitations. If regular street tires are your thing, then ok - nothing against that. But some of us go to the track with tires that are made for the track vice what we use day-to-day on the street, thus we change other things (such as gearing, or the converter) to take advantage of those sticky tires......at the track.

Lowering springs do reduce weight transfer. However, this car dead-hooked with the DRs it had, so in this case, it didn't hurt the ET. If it were "on the edge" of traction, then they can become a hinderance. FWIW.....I don't like lowering springs or lowering a car, so I'm certainly not biased towards having them.
