I'm only getting around 20MPG , mostly city driving.... But i bet I'm having more fun cuz it's a GT. Actually I came from driving a truck that got 12MPG at it's best so I couldn't be happier!!

My 300 mile round trip from NH seacoast to Hartford Ct comes in at about 27 MPG. That is with the A/C on and cruise at 70 mph on the way down and 75-80 mph with A/C on on the way back. Also only 87 octane in the tank. Have about 2700 miles on it.

What makes you thinks so?

Just more HP doesn't mean it's more fun.

My car makes me smile every time I get in it and giggle like a little girl every time I tromp the throttle!

Well I guess I haven't driven a v6 mustang BUT I know what a v6 sounds like... Nothing beats the growl of a V8. NOTHING

Edit: Test drive a GT and see how much you giggle

What does this have to do with the topic of V6 fuel mileage? Just another stab from someone with a superiority complex just because they have a GT.

My brother in law owns a 2011 GT which I've driven many times. Aside from the initial leap off the line, it's not that special. From 20 to 80 you would need a stop watch to tell the difference between the two.

And then comes the corners, where that big, heavy V8 makes the front end push, plowing straight ahead when the tires are turned. The lighter V6 is much more nimble and willing to change directions. Keep in mind that the GT and V6 with the Sport Suspension package have the exact same suspension, but the GT carries 200lbs more weight, all right on the front wheels. Driving down a twisty country road a GT will struggle to keep up with a V6.

In normal driving, the GT has bigger gas bills and that's about it. It's only advantage over the V6 is in acceleration, and most of that is right off the line. It's .3 seconds faster 0-30, .3 seconds faster 0-60, and only .6 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. Come off the line a little slow and you can easily find your GT being outrun by a good driver in the V6.

And I can assure you I can make the V6 go a lot more than just .6 seconds faster in a 1/4 mile for the $8,000 price difference.

Ironic that you say that, and then follow it with this...

No, I'm really not. 13.7 1/4 mile for the V6, 13.1 for the GT. .6 seconds difference.

0-60 for the V6 is 5.1, for the GT is 4.8. Just a .3 second difference.

0-30 the V6 is 1.9, the GT 1.6. A .3 second difference.

The GT will pull out .3 seconds off the line, be equal with the V6 from 30-70, and then will begin to pull away on the top end. If you plan on spending a lot of time at speeds over 100MPH then the added HP of the V8 would be a big help, but below that, not so much.

And what do you mean by "Better brakes"? You can get any brake system including the Brembos on the V6.

I can easily add Brembo brakes, a better-than-factory suspension, CAI with a tune, carbon fiber drive shaft, and 3:73 rear end gearing for about half the price difference between the V6 and GT, and have a car that could match or out-perform the GT in every way.

A large part of your GT price went to the leatherette seats, colored interior lights, a 60 watt per channel stereo that doesn't even sound as good as my wife's Toyota Camry, and a bunch of body work that only adds drag and weight. Cosmetics that make no difference to performance.

we are talking stock to stock. Its ricer talk to say "if I added a turbo....."

the lighting and leather is part of the premium pack and has nothing to do with being a GT. Same with the shaker stereo. what body work would that be? the v6 has the same body panel. fog lights maybe?

The v6 is great at mpg's and thats what its made for in the long run.

The times are a little off in my experience. I've never seen a stock v6 run 13.7 but I have seen a 93 octane tuned / cai v6 go 13.6 consistently backed with a 13.58 run. I've also seen a stock GT run 12.80's back to back to back because I own it; not 13.1.

You people are funny. You think cuz someone doesn't have thousands of posts that they are a troll. Seems like some of you need to get off the internet and drive your cars a little more.

I wasn't trying to stir anyone up, just didn't know some guys were so sensitive

Lol, we had these same 'd1ck measuring contests' on the F150 forum... It was always the Ecoboost engines vs whatever else.

People buy what they buy for their own reasons. Why the hell does it matter what everyone else drives?
