v6 with bells and whistles vs base gt

Was tossing around the idea of a good deal on a 2010gt but decided to stick with a 2011. I configured a v6 with 3.31 402a and glass roof and it came to about the same price as a gt bare bones model. What would you do? I would love a premium gt but that is really pushing things so it's one of these two options.

What are your goals with the car? Daily driver? Track car? What about the insurance/gas mileage considerations?

The V6 doesn't come with a 402a option. . . does it?

If you are just driving it on the road, never on a race track, I would think the V6 should be plenty. 300hp is quite a lot and should give you plenty of fun to drive factor.
You just have to decide what's more important to you. For me I'd rather have the extra features.

This will be a daily driver for about 9 months out of the year. I will buy a beater for winter driving. Gas and insurance not a big deal because I don't drive a heck of alot and my driving record is spotless so insurance on a gt is only about $75 or so a month.

Kinda what I am thinking. I won't be taking it to the track. I think with the 3.31 it will be pretty fun. I am coming from an explorer so big difference in fun factor either way.

You and I still seem to be in the same boat my friend. I asked my buddy yesterday this question about the 2010 GT Track Pack loaded and a 2011 Base GT with Brembos and he said 2011. I am starting to agree with him. I HATE the low class base model interior but if that's what I had to choose I am still thinking GT.

As for the V6, I want to tell myself I will love it and the fuel mileage. I just can't My reasons are very different from yours I would think so for me it's a battle of the GT's.

What about a Premium GT with no options? What options did you specifically want other than Glass Roof? You could get a Premium GT with just Glass Roof and I think the MSRP would be around $34k right? With the discounts widely available/price negotiation you could pay near invoice for that car...

Have you test driven a 2011 V6? If you have and are satisfied with the performance, I'd say go with the V6. Better fuel economy and cheaper insurance. I'm getting a GT Premium myself but I've driven my cousin's 2011 V6 with the standard axle ratio and it's a lot of fun. With the 3.31 axle, 18" wheels and high performance tires it would be even better. For a lot of people, a 2011 V6 would be faster than any car they've ever owned and would not feel like they are missing out by not having a GT. Furthermore, I'm never buying a new car again that doesn't have Sync, which requires the Premium package.

One of the dealerships close to me will give me invoice plus $300 so the two I mentioned would come in about 28k. I guess I could skip the glass roof and go premium gt for 31k but 28 was about the max I wanted to spend. The only other sportier car I have had was the first year the 350z came out and I would guess the v6 with 3.31 will be just as fast as that was.

The only thing I drove so far was a 2010gt with standard gears and I thought the power of that was fun.

Funny thing is two different salesmen at two different dealers (both real cool guys) said wait and test a 2011 v6 before you buy a 2010 and I know they need to clear out the 2010s. One guy drove the v6 with 3.31 and said it was fun.

Since you owned a Z, I'm guessing the V8 isn't that important to you, so I think you'd be happy with the loaded V6. But I'd still price out a Glass Roof Premium GT just to see....

Your in the same boat i was in. A G.T. Premium with no extra options or a V-6 with everything. I don't like the glass roof. I bought the V-6 with everything and very happy with it.

I decided which one to get by agonizing over which front end I liked better.
So I ordered the GT then worried about extras to put on it.

I am still not 100% on the glass roof. I am leaning more towards the v6 at the moment. Thinking Kona with saddle and 3.31 with 202a.

How does the v6 with the 3.31 feel to you?

The 3.31 gears feel great. At 60 m.p.h. it is only doing around 1,800 r.p.m. The best i could tell, i drove my Dad's new 2010 Taurus the other day. It does around the same r.p.m. at 60 m.p.h. my Mustang does. The 3.31 gears feel normal to me.
