Cali it would have been another 3-4 weeks to get the car as it had to go through the Panama Canal. Instead I ordered a car back east and had it shipped via covered carrier and it got here in 10 days.

The issue here is we are ordering a car that is just starting to being built and we have to burn through the dealer stock orders before any customer orders are being processed (not counting retail orders that were changed to customers preference).

Dave
The exact same thing happened when I ordered my 2010 BMW 335d. The dealer neglected to mention that he had to wait for an allotment before he could actually order my car. Then it had to be built and shipped over from GmbH. It was a long, drawn-out, four-month process when all was said-and-done.

There's really only two types of orders (and I'm paraphrasing because I don't know the vernacular).

Retail Stock
Customer Retail
Actually, I just cust & pasted the choices right out of the Ford order banks below and there are more than 2 types....

TYPE Description
0 FLEET
1 RETAIL
2 STOCK
3 RED CARPET LEASE RENEWAL ORDER
A "A/D/Z" PLAN VEHICLES
B STOCK-DEALER DEMONSTRATOR
K LOAN-OUT PGM.(DRIVER TRAINING)
X "X" PLAN VEHICLES

Order type 2 is for dealer stock (unsold cars that will just sit on the lot waiting for a buyer). The other order types are all orders for a specific customer. For the average customer who special orders, order type 1 is you. If you are eligible for one of the plan-prices, order type A or X will apply to you.

Not all of us work for Ford. Most of us live outside of Detroit. It really is one of the armpits of the US.

Moving on...

Oh, cool. So I had it right in my head. I just failed to type it right; there's only two order types I think the majority of us need to worry about

Waiting in NY

Like I've said elsewhere, the waiting is rough, but I'd rather wait an extra month to make sure everything's right. New cars with rattling parts or mechanical glitches would make us all sad

I've waited years to order this car -- I can wait a little longer . . . I think!

Speaking of the hold, any more info on how long it looks to be?

Shaun, Is it a hold on ALL GT's or just the Brembo cars?

The whole time this scheduling had been going on, I thought I had a retail order, but apparently, since my car is already built, I guess I have a stock order from my dealer. Hopefully that won't mess up the timing of getting it by much.

When I talked to the dealer last week, before I saw the Mustangs were on hold, he told me delivery would be around 4/30. I doubt that is going to happen now, but is there any timeline on when this problem is going to be fixed? How will it affect my car?
