Tuner question
Tuner question
When you buy a custom tune loaded tuner from, for examples, Steeda, C&L or American Muscle, do you get the SCT or Diablosport (depending on which tuning device you buy) factory canned tunes and the custom tune files or is it usually that you just get the custom tunes? Thanks
I've been slowly but surely modding my 2013 5.0 Automatic and so far I've done staggered Boss Laguna Seca wheels and MT Street Comp tires, Roush axle back exhaust, JLT oil catch can, Boss strut tower brace and now I've just ordered a C&L 2013 CAI with the rain shield and the calibration tube insert. I had a 2010 Challenger R/T and upgraded the exhaust and ran a K&N CAI and a Diablosport Predator with the DS 93CAI Performance tune for nearly three years and it REALLY woke that engine up. I was actually quite happy but, the Coyote engine with the stock Ford tune is waay more potent than the tuned up Hemi ever was. I'm very exited to see what a good tune is going to do for this bad boy!

I went with the SCT iTSX because I like the coordless tuning plus the performance software for accel/decel/hp/tq estimates. AM uses Bama Performance tuning no matter which tuner you get through them in which they will ask you a series of like 20 or so questions regarding your mods and write custom tunes directly for you. I only have access to 91 so I had them do most of my tunes for that along with the mods I have done. I really like so far. I went with the K&N CIA, Borla S Types, and SCT iTSX and am loving it.

Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions, need some assistance or just want to chat. Thanks Dan, glad you like what I've done so far. I got the Mickey Thompsons and the Roush ABs from you guys and they both kick A__!! Great service too. I'm liking what I'm seeing of your tunes and tune combinations and all. Do your tunes for the 2013 cars differ any from the ones for the 2011-12 cars? How's your automatic tunes? My car is NOT a daily driver. I probably only get to drive it a handful of days per month, she's for enjoyment mostly. I've noticed that ever since I installed the Roush exhaust and the new wheels and tires, every single time I've driven the car it seems to still be making/manufacturing more of it's own power. By that I mean, it seems to run meaner and louder and faster EVERY SINGLE TIME I TAKE IT OUT! With only 2500 miles I'm sure its still breaking in and waking up but this is getting nuts already. I thought my last hotrod was the stuff after it had a performance tune loaded up. Boy it sounded mean and all and ran wicked. But that was kid stuff, childs play compared to the factory standard Ford tune that my car is still running at this point. So, I'm not currently at all certain how much more violent this Coyote needs to be.... Yet! As soon as I've installed the CAI and get a few more miles on her I'll have a better idea of the tuning improvements I'm looking for. I'm positive your tunes and others are going to be much better but honestly, if someone told me my car already had a hot race tune on it and I didn't know any better I'd believe them.

All of our tunes are going to differ from each other, since we write every single tune form the ground up! Our tunes are completely custom for your modifications and driving habits etc... However, since the 11+ Mustangs have factory wide band sensors we can definitely get your tune dialed in just about perfect, every time! When it comes to the Auto trans, you'll benefit a little bit more than the Manual owners. The tune will be the same Power, Torque, Acceleration etc.. wise, but we have full control over your shift points table as well. We will make your shifts a lot quicker and stiffer!
These stock Coyote's sure do rip but once you do a CAI and tune, it's a completely different animal! You'll pick up an additional 30+ RWHP and 25+ RWTQ from a set up like this.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future.
