Bought the Airaid cai/sct bama tuner combo Friday and it arrived today. Bought the combo to save the money, along with a promo code to get the tuner purchase out of the way as I will be tuning somewhere down the road. Most say to wait until the warranty is up but darn* is it tempting to do tomorrow. What should I do?

 

Had my CAI and tune since day 5 after purchase and never had any problems. I even took my car for warranty repairs ( clutch issue and driver seat motor issue ( and they didn't say anything about the Mod. But then again the service guy was a mustang guy too.

 

Ford may void a warranty claim based on a tune. If you object, you would have to sue them. They then have to prove that the tune caused the damage. They have very good lawyers on the payroll. Do you?

With that being said, the chance of that happening is very small. IMHO, if you don't have the funds to repair it yourself, wait.

 

Steeda 93 Tune and cai since 1,000 miles. 15,000 miles now, never a hiccup, CEL or anything.

 

Since I am fairly new here...have you guys read anything referring to someone having such a thing happen to them?

 

Bama does good tunes, you have nothing to worry about. I tune and mod my cars right away and have never had an issue with getting warranty work done. Go for it and enjoy!

There are people that have had their warranty claims denied, get a reputable tune and don't abuse the car and you will be fine.

 

I have had my 11 v6 tuned one year into owning it. Freaking love it. I got it from American Muscle sct bama and have not had one issue. American Muscle stands by there products including there sct bama tuner. If you have a issue with your vehicle and the dealership won't cover it under warranty because of the tune, American Muscle will take care of the issue at no cost. American Muscle is a great company with top quality products. Go tune and enjoy.

 

My experience exactly matches his... if I had to go back to stock tune I would sell the car - enough said.

 

I have the Airaid and BAMA tunes with the SCT tuner and not a single problem have I encountered. At first when I took my car to the dealers I returned it to stock along with the stock filter box, (it takes all of 20 minutes really to do). Then I decided screw it and left the setup on. Dealer commented on nice filter etc and also mentioned that IF something were to happen THEY would have to prove the tune / filter etc were a DIRECT cause of the failure.

AM and BAMA are great and as mentioned stand by their product(s). They also keep their tunes upto date. This is easy to do as they will email you new tunes as and when you may change anything on it and you just load the tunes to the SCT. I have to switch tunes when I put on my winter tires (STD are 19's winters 18's) and just load the tune BAMA gave me for the smaller wheels. Winter I run a street tune and on summer tires I run a performance, so you can see I have swapped tunes regulary WITH NO ISSUES.

The biggest issue I have is that once you put on the Airaid and the BAMA tune the car is so much nicer to drive, no "lumpy" spots that I find as factory tune, better throttle response, a little better gas milage (if I drive normal ) and no stupid skip shift too!!

As all of these guys already mentioned, you can upload your Bama tunes with a peace of mind. For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys.

As far as warranty issues, first off there has to be an issue that directly relates to the engine's tune or CAI. For instance, if your power steering pump went bad, there's no relation to your PCM there, so you won't have to worry about any issues like that. Plus, some Dealerships are more laid back than others and won't void your warranty at all. The best thing to do is talk to your local dealership about aftermarket tunes and see what they say.

Again, if it were me, I would have already uploaded the tunes just like these guys haha. If you have more questions, just give me a shout!

Do you have any "special" tunes, meaning anything not street, performance or race, such as a ghost cam tune or anything else out of the normal tunes?

I've seen a few Boss manifolds on SVT and allford for 375. Just something to keep in mind. Hopefully I can find one down the road when I get tuned.

 

Is it true that AM will take care of the issue?

 

If your dealer is cool, then install the tune. If you have an auto with the lazy 2.73 gears like me, then a tune is almost mandatory to address the less-than-stellar factory programming. The majority of your Bama tune (80%) probably goes towards the transmission shift schedule / shift points / shift firmness and the remainder is for throttle response and driveability. I installed my mild Steeda street tune at 1,500 miles and can’t ever imagine going back to stock. Here’s my tune review:

I'm one of the few that wont do things that could void future warranties like past the 3 and 5 year with ford ESP added on. I will only have this car for 5 I'm sure but things change.

Trust me I want to but it's peace of mind for me to not have to worry about hassles. I'd KILL for a trans tune if I could ha ha

 

I installed the CAI and tuned with an 87 street tune...engine tick seems louder than when I got it...and what are normal cylinder head and inlet air temps?
